All,

Basically, I only use ebay for buying cheap things that don't really matter too much to me and are of low value.

However, I splashed out on a new set of clubs from this ebay shop which was apparently situated in the UK. The clubs are over £100 cheaper on this site than they are to buy in the UK, and it also looked like the clubs were supplied from the USA (although it stated no import tax or VAT to be paid on receipt).

Checked the feedback, everything looks fine; plenty business and all very positive. Went through with the transaction, great communication, got my UPS tracking number for the parcel and an estimated delivery of 27th July (ordered on the 24th of July). I checked my parcel, and I was a little bit worried that they were shipped from Florida and are currently sitting in Philadelphia as I thought this was a UK shop that stocked clubs in the UK shipped over from the USA.

My question is, isn't the 27th of July a bit of an optimistic delivery date? Or will a courier like UPS really deliver a set of clubs from Florida in two working days? Anyone else ordered stuff from the USA that came at warp speed?

Yes I do think its possible the clubs could arrive in 2 days from the US. The delivery charge would be quite high I would imagine for that speed of service. It only takes around 8hrs flight from the US...

Clubs were £289.99 and my bill was £306 in total including the delivery, so about £15.

They're coming via UPS's "Express" service, so I checked the UPS website and it confirms that shipments from the USA->UK take two working days. That's better than our shit mail service fs.

Next question, how can they be so confident in saying no import tax or VAT to be paid? How do they get around it?

And thats why theyre trading via Ebay ;)

The only problem with doing things this way is that any manufacturers warranty is likely to be invalid.

Yes, unless Customs and Excise want to look into it.

You'll probably have to unwrap about 42 bags to get to it, they do that to put customs off from searching them.

i've bought quite a few bits from ebay and had them shipped from America. Jewlery for the missus, a few iPaq's, Some Oakleys and some Abercrombie gear. Always arrives pretty quick. The most I have had to wait is a week. Always come labeled as a gift. Only had a problem once when it wasnt declared as a gift and we ended up having to pay £20.00 when the item got delivered otherwise they would not release it.

Clubs came today, well packaged in a Taylormade box, no sign of a "gift" or any wrapping .

Very surprised I didn't get stiffed by customs or UPS for tax!

RAC OS 2's, oversized head for people like me who like to have a bit of forgiveness and high launch angle. ;)

I was thinking about the RAC LT's which are the next on the list of "less forgiving, more workability" for mid/low handicapers, but if I couldn't hit them i'd be sorely disappointed.

As it stands, the RAC OS 2's are giving me a much better launch angle allowing me to drop the ball well, so the control and ball flight is much better than my other irons; but not necessarily hitting the ball longer (which isn't the point, i'm sure you'll agree).

I did consider other irons, such as the Niké NDS or the Pro Combos; they are great irons, but I wanted to steer away from being a Tiger disciple. :)

And of course, having a pciture of him as you avatar is the way to do that :D

I can't really talk mind, every club in my bag apart from the putter now has a swoosh on it. Nikes just suit my game better......honest :)

Good work on the irons tho, it's whatever works best for your game at the end of the day.

True, the MB's have been discontinued now :p You can only get the cavity TP's now, which are really nice irons, but the heads are too big for my liking.

Plus cavity backed irons are for pussies. Fact.
