Wanted to buy a ticket off ebay for an event that isn't for a few months but i was wondering about what would happen if things go wrong.

Is there a time limit from when you buy something til when you can dispute it? The tickets wouldn't come for 5 months so i'm wondering if i would be left with no options or can still make a claim after so long?

There is a time limit.. it´s either 30 days or 60 days, can´t remember. At any rate, I had a similar problem with a US seller who wouldn´t deliver the items for 8 weeks and when I finally contacted paypal and ebay, they told me it´s too late. :/

edit: found the email from ebay

Unfortunately, since the listing ended more than 60 days ago, you can no longer file an "Item Not Received" or "Item Significantly Not as Described" dispute on eBay.

You can not apply for a PayPal protection either, because 45 days deadline has passed.

If you paid with PayPal, your purchase is protected under the PayPal Buyer Complaint policy. If you can't reach the seller, open a dispute in the PayPal Resolution Centre. But you must do this within 45 days of your payment.

You and the seller can communicate via the Resolution Centre. If you and the seller aren't able to resolve the situation within 20 days, you can escalate the dispute to a PayPal claim.

We feel that 45 for PayPal and 60 days for opening an eBay online dispute is a fair amount of time for the buyer and seller to try to resolve the problem. It also allows for difficulties with the postal service and personal circumstances.

However, your complaint has been noted and, if appropriate, we will take action against the seller to ensure eBay remains a fun, safe place to shop. However, as it's important that eBay maintains member privacy, we can't share details of the action we take.

I am having crap loads of problems with click and buy atm regarding resubbing my lotro acc and my prepaid credit card >< Been trying for over a week to sort it out now and click and buy are just so slow, thinking of linking the card to paypal instead as they are much quicker :)

I use Paypal, ofc nowadays we all have to. Several years ago I bought a present for the best man at my wedding to say thank you on a pre-order. The goods never arrived even though the company (Valinor swords) took £115. Paypal were the least helpful people saying 'not our problem, and we won't give you any deyails of the seller' which I thought was BS.

Found out he registered here and then fooked off to Greece and registered there. Now he freely trades on ebay even though I've sent all the evidence to them.

In my case Paypal, ebay and even HSBC (my bank as card issuer) were all powerless. Fucking joke tbh.

i would never use click and buy... not after the Dark and Light mayhem (they only would deal through click and buy basically). People had hundreds of pounds stripped of their cards and had trouble getting the money back... Luckily i foresaw this and after making the initial payment (and getting a refund as Dark and Light didnt live up to the agreement).

After making a payment i personally changed my card details to something false (basically all 1s or 0s i think).... Great fun to then see dozens of emails coming from the Dark and Light community saying i owed them hundreds upon hundreds of pounds for subscriptions on a game they refunded me for thus never received. Some people hadnt been so lucky and click and buy took thier money and months later when i stopped looking for a laugh they still hadnt managed to get it back (got so bad that apparently Visa began looking at it as a possible fraud, lol)

So any company that lets things get this bad will never get my business
