Ebay - faulty item joys

Hey all!

Just got Sonic and Knuckles off of Ebay!!!!11


only problem is - its faulty doesnt work properly at all - completely unplayable. I've had a quick look on ebay to see what the next step is, if i cba to take it, and it seems like I just message the seller and say "oi, you, mush!" etc and basically let him know its faulty and see what he says yea?

Not really too fussed about the item, it was very cheap so very little lost really, just a bit miffed at not having S&K to play over christmas

So does anyone know what the "proper procedure" is in a case like this? what am i allowed to demand etc.

any help much appreciated!

Message the seller first. If he doesn't reply, try again 2-3 times over a week's period. This will help you if you decided to take it further. Sometimes, people take a long time to respond so allow at least a week. One of my sellers didn't respond for 4 weeks, because his partner left him and he ended up homeless - so don't be abusive etc. Just be nice, friendly & calm but affirmative.

If you paid with Paypal, you lodge a complaint and say the fact the object is fault, mention you messaged him numerous times etc. From my experiance, Paypal generally resolve matters in a week maximum, which isn't too bad. If Paypal find your case to be valid, they transfer the funds from the sellers' account to yours. You then, generally, send the item back to the seller.

Don't place negative feedback straight away though as this can tarnish your own feedback (most people fight neg with neg).

Seller didnt accept paypal, had to send a cheque.

Not really too fussed in a way as I said it was like £5, just dont like the idea of having to pay for faulty goods.

Like that time I paid Vlad for nookie! needless to say trading standards received a long and in-detail report!!!

Just so you know, if you use Paypal and Ebay together (like 90% of Ebay users) you have options.

It's not a 'you get ripped off - tough luck' scenario. Not at all

You saying stuff and evidence is a bit different. Find an EULA, find a CoC, find a partridge in a peartree and then it might be helpful.

I could write a three paragraph thing about how the paypal f*ck you up and so do ebay, but it would mean crap all without any sort of backup.

Learn the meaning of "owning" good sir, and return then.

And most importantly...

Learn to take a f*cking joke/flame as it is and not as a "i'll suue your a** for saying stuff about me!"

I've had experiance with Ebay. I've had experiance with people being *****. If you read my post, you'd know that.

Bugz is right if you buy with Paypal it says you are protected, if something gose wrong then you follow paypals procedure and normally get a 95% of your money back. Which is alot better than the nothing if you just roll over and think your fucked.

If you did not use pay pal just try emailing the guy and if he dose not offer a refund leave shitty feedback, he may thing a positive rep is worth more than i fiver.

And if you do not belive Bugz try reading the pay pal resolution center documentation. If you win PayPal give you the money and take it from the sellers account if the sellers account is empty they go into negative.

Yea, I knew there were risks when I decided to pay by cheque, at the end of the day the seller would only accept cheque - not paypal, so I didnt have a choice.

Ah well, like I said its not so much the cash I'm worried about, just the principle if it had of been more than £5 I would have used paypal or not bid at all cheers all for the advice though!

What I posted answered the question fully. If I posted that indepth and that accurate, I obviously know what I'm talking about.
