Yep thats about it. They apparantly had £100m in the bank and spent £99m on buying GAME

Expect to see american versions of EB popping up as soon as the contact expires.....

EBUK started as a UK franchise of its US parent, but since then two things have happened:

1) EBUK has become rather successful (understatement).

2) Effective ownership of EBI has changed hands, with the original owners now holding a minority of 47% of the company, thereby opening a potential loophole in the franchise agreement.

If EBUK are able to exploit this loophole, they can then effectively become a new individual company. They would then be able to cease payments of 1% of their annual turnover to EBI - sounds like fuck all, but we're talking millions of pounds per percent here.

It is assumed that EBUK would convert it's holdings into the name of Game, the company EBUK recently bought over.
