Easy's Official Retirement Thread

I stopped playing "Dark Age of Camelot" in March 2003.
After a break, I have decided to officialize my retirement
(which already was semi-official, anyways).

Since several people have already posted a retirement
thread on Barrysworld, I thought "Why not?" and at last,
here's my official Barrysworld retirement thread (on the
General forum so all people that know me can read it).

In a nutshell: DAoC was a good game back in the beta
period, but I feel it has changed a great deal since
the end of beta.

PvE has bored me, and RvR is not very enjoyable to
me anymore (armsmen are not meant to be RvR killing
machines, and I can't be bothered to create another
character).

Easy the level 50 Armsman of Albion is officially retired,
and this decision is permanent. I would like to thank all
in-game friends for enhancing my gaming experience.

This list is in no way complete - I also thank all the
fair players of all realms that have ever interacted with
me nicely, from day one of beta to the day of my retirement.

You know who you are.

Special thanks to the <Seven> guild, the best Albion guild
on the Prydwen server. Yes, definitely the best that I have
ever joined - they never complained about anything, and they
have always been nice to me.

If anyone wants to chat about "the old times", feel free to
email me at easy.prydwen@gamebox.net (a mailbox created
just for that).

Now it is time to move on - I am waiting to beta-test "Dragon
Empires" (I am an official beta tester since February). Also,
I will have a look at "World of Warcraft" when it comes out.

A final word. My account is strictly personal, so I will not
under any circumstance transfer it - asking for it is futile.
It is meant to be deleted by GOA once six months have passed.

That said, goodbye forever Albion.

If I were to make a complete list of all people I know in
DAoC, I would probably have posted this thread only
around Christmas time

I have interacted with tens of players so of course you
won't see a lot of names in the above list. But this doesn't
mean that I have forgotten them - it's just that making a
complete list of people is soooooooo time-consuming hehe.

But here goes:

Special thanks to Layl for crafting (for free) special armour
for my theurgist alter-ego Methiel \o/ oh and for mesmerizing
Megalith Wights in the Barrows around level 37 so that Easy
the Armsman could level up faster. Oh, and for entertaining
the group with good jokes while hunting.

I have waited for the improvement of RvR for a long time.

During my last month of gaming on Prydwen, I wondered
why I renewed my account for a full month at all lol. Maybe
to say hello to old friends before leaving DAoC permanently.

Anyways, since Mythic looks unable to improve the RvR
part of the game IMHO, I have decided to look for different
game companies that are more, say, customer-satisfaction
oriented

Well Easy mate,

Very very sad to see you leave the game, and despite my efforts you're still not coming back. I'll never forget the first time i saw a lvl 50 armsman on pryd, proudly standing atop the apk in emain, in full neon blue plate.

I always looked up to you from that day as a player and covetted the day I could fight along side you as a 50. I remember the early morning chats over the forge at Benowyc while we both wondered why we were bothering to craft, and the chats while face down in the emain mud as we were overcopowered by the NP chanterzerg. Oh, and good shout on the MoP front, couldn't be happier.

Well mate, always sad to see a guildie go, but I'm thankful for the privilege to call you one. As many have posted before, Its always sad to see an old school player leave, but especially one which made an impact on your DAoC experience.

We wll keep in touch mate.
