Try and get the Adventures of Kirby! (if possible, the original on a NES emulator!) Its a really easy, fun and kinda lighthearted game that I used to play when I was 5.... the last boss takes a bit of doing, but the rest of the game is great fun while still being pretty simple.

And Sonic of course, Sonic is the cure to everything!

Hmm, while I'm at it, here are a few online games that I used to play while bored out of my head at college, some are good for helping you improve your game, once you play these for a bit mario should be a walk in the park (even though mario is obviously EVIL! SONIC OWNS MARIO!!!! SONIC OWNS MARIOOOO!!!1111 )

You might try some of the old Lucasarts game, monkey island 1+2, sam and max etc, they're available on freeware, and are fun games (graphics aren't up 2 much but doesnt take away from the fun factor), they're simple enough point and click puzzle games with a bit of a story

All the old sam&max, Full throttle games still hold up graphics wise as they were drawn fully.

anyway, ill be more serious now download a copy of dosbox(couldn't get this working) or ScummVM to play some 90' dos point and click classics like;

there not free, but they are if you get em from torrents... and there impossible to play without a dos emulator

There's also Jedi Knight 2, singleplayer isn't too hot but the multiplayer community is decent
