Earache !

I have just had about the most painful day I ever remember. My ear gets blocked by wax occasionally and it did so a few days ago. Needless to say I poked it. I didn't think I was doing much harm since I never hurt myself with the poking or poked too far and I got loads of crap out too :)

However I woke up this morning with earache. Anyway, I ignored it and put some eardrops in. Got loads more crap out when I poked it again afterwards. Yay :D

NOT Yay :(

Soon afterwards the pain became more and more intense. I visited an emergency doctor in Selby and he said my ear was inflamed and gave me some antbiotic eardrops. I don't think he looked hard enough though. He was very quick about it. Driving along the motorway on the way home I was in agony. It was even worse in Tesco's when I was buying some aspirin. I could have killed our lass when she decided to spend 20 mins buying treats for her dogs and cat :(

For about another hour after I got home it felt like the whole left side of my head was falling apart until the aspirin strted to kick in and eased it a little. Then the b33rs started to kick in too :)

Only problem now is the constant stream of gunk from my left ear is starting to turn red :(

I've been close to tears half the day. If I wasn't a hard Yorkshire bloke I'd have been blubbing my eyes out :)

Wotcha Wij!

Earwax overload hey?!

Had it a few years back. Some drops and lots of greenish/yellow discharge later and I could hear again!!

My housemate used to complain of similar things and had his ear syringed. After a while he would go and have it done anyway just cos he liked it.

That red stuff coming out is probably blood, Wij. If I were you I'd consider going straight to casualty in the morning. Certainly no harm in it and your ears are quite important, I've heard (heh). I'd suggest going now, but Saturday in Casualty is never very pleasant.

Go! No excuses. No 'it'll be alright if I ignore it.' Just go and get it sorted.

Part the problem is the fact you keep poking yourself in the ear and remove something thats been covered by wax and infecting it with dirt which is located on your finger.

When I was younger I had a ton of problems with my left ears. My left ear in particular.
They're really delicate things and hsould be looked after. I ended up getting an infection in my left ear and had to have two operations to graft a new ear drum on. It's better now but the operations weren't fun....I had to have really tight bandages wrapped around my head for several days giving me a non-stop headache that aspirin just wasn't going to cure.

Get it looked at ASAP....ya don't wanna end up sans ear drum like me. :touch: :whip:

Dunno why your messing about with those eardrops - just sticking more chemicals in your body.

Get out the back garden with 2 bricks and slam them together with your knob between them - thatll get rid of the wax !!!!

If it doesnt, at least it will take your mind off your ear.

Hope you get better soon matey - do like someguy says and get it looked at properly.

PS. SOMEGUY - did I see you posting on a different forum ?

Um... maybe? I dunno. Which one? This is my home, though. I only go to others to leech information then discard them like the used tissues they are.

I'm sharing a 56k connection on a lan atm, opening more than one IE window may fall to disastrous consequences.
