I bought a set of shifters for my bike off e-bay the other day. Not being particularly good mechanically I took my bike and them to the local bike shop today to get them fitted.
Sadly when they were half way through they realised that the ratchet inside one was completely knackered rendering the whole thing useless.
The description mentions 'light scratching due to resting bike against wall' but the guy mentioned the same marks and suggested that they were due to a crash, that he guessed may be the cause of the problem. He certainly didn't think they were in line with a little wall leaning. Unfortunately they did have to charge me labour for the time taken up to that point, and to put everything else back, and for the cost of the cable inners that had to be replaced, so I am an extra £15 out of pocket.
I have e-mailed the guy, and hopefully he will be completely reasonable and refund the whole lot, however I am not holding my breath and so I wondered if anyone here has any experience of the e-bay resolution centre, am I basically guaranteed to get my money back eventually, or are there other problems ahead?
