So the first race ( Beijing was today ) it's all a one day event - practice/quali/race all the same day.

Was quite a good race although the commentary team was dire.

They need some sound effects, it just sounds like racing milk floats in its current format.

It's shit having to change cars half way through

Should have a metal strip round the track like scalectrix

I don't see it lasting long. There's only room for one single-seat championship on the world stage.

Its really lame, and of course it whacks the costs right up.

This. Although I would imagine Bernie is keeping an eye on the technology.

Just think how bad that Heidfeld crash could have been if those cars moved quickly.

Top speed on that track was apparently 110mph. They should put a bullet in this now and try again in 15 years or so when the tech is ready to make it interesting.

Yeah, and it'll be formula e. The tech will get better and better and it'll eclipse F1.

Doubtful. F1 will just absorb the tech and move on. Its seen off an awful lot of rival formulae down the years.

With well over a century of development, I don't see the internal combustion engine being eclipsed by electric motors any time soon—certainly not in motorsport.

Well they might get banned by some hippy government at some point.

I think it would be a lot more exciting if they put the motors in milk floats and they had to race with a full load of glass milk bottles.

At their fastest they look like they're trolling round behind a safety car. I'm suprised they can generate any downforce at their slow speeds. It's just rubbish.
