Hello everyone
Trying to register a new account for the beta as I managed to forgot my login details:twak:

works fine until I am asked to submit the DXdiag.txt file and receive this message

"An error occured,we are unable to process your request(code 417)"

anyone else had this or know of a workaround ?

I have had the same problem when trying to update my Dxdiag. I have tried to ask for help at the goa beta centre email but had zero luck. I'd like to know a solution to this problem too.

exactly same problem here too..

Error 417 when trying to atttach dxdiag file (no reds or problems with other fields, just the attachment interface)

Worries me as there's been lots of talk on WHA as to the problems with GOA and WAR-Europe :( This odesn't bode well and hope they are able to fix it soon.

Try uploading your dxdiag info with Firefox. Had the same problem with IE but it worked fine with Firefox

All of my personal information had also disappeared, although i solved the problem by just refreshing the page, so that might be worth a try! Hope this sorts it out for you guys :)!

Have same problem. The solution I found is to press "Home" at the end of the page, and then open my profile again. Works every time.

Greetings!

We are well aware of this issue, but I'm afraid that as of now, I cannot offer a reliable solution. I've encountered this myself for various reasons. If running IE 6 or lower, I'd recommend upgrading to IE 7 or Firefox. In the end, though, I'd simply recommend persistence.

Sorry for the hassle everyone. Naturally, if I find any updates on this, I'll share promptly!

Nothing personal Magnus, but I think it is grotesque that GOA so close to launch, can't get its website working right. Since I have had problems with the site from day 1, I gotta say that I have little faith in GOAs ability to handle WAR, when they can't get a website working right.

The whole mess is just ....

They are working on a new site where you will have the ability to put in your preorder codes and stuff... But yeah the site they have at the moment is kinda lame. I hope the new one will rock!!

Yeah, but why should the new site be less buggy than the old one? When the time comes to enter our codes, I will wait a while, and keep my eyes on the forums, to see if anyone have any problems before I enter my codes.

The state of the EU website is frankly disgusting. The game is launching in a month and our site still doesn't have all the required features and the stuff it does have doesn't even work right.

1. The site doesn't render properly in FireFox 3.0. Many people just get a black page. With IE it works but the account management page is still broken.

2. Still no beta center, still no way to enter preorder codes and whatnot. Every day this is becoming more of a problem as the launch approaches and people actually need that stuff.

3. No timetable for fixes, or the much hyped new website. When is it coming, guys? A frank, concrete answer would be nice at this point, seeing as some of us are down £60 and not exactly riding high on confidence.

4. Site is lacking crucial features like a centralised discussion board or even a proper conduit for feedback. Are you worried about getting hatemail or did you just not think that people might like those things?

For a company who were banging their drum about how much they've improved since the dark DaoC days, this really doesn't feel like it. I may sound a bit negative, but frankly at this point I don't care. Like I said, I'm down 60 quid on a CE preorder and every day is just more disappointing and infuriating than the previous one because we're getting nothing but hand-wringing from the guys at GOA.

You guys say you've improved a ton. Prove it.

The only valid point in your post is that the site doesn't work 100% in ie Mozilla. Fair statement. As to the thread starter, yes the DxDiag.txt file upload is fubar atm. Markus has confirmed the issue and says they are working on it.

Now to my point...

We are now in the final stages of the beta and all focus is on the coming release and Open Beta. Open beta is stress test mainly - numbers, numbers and crash the server! The need for a DxDiag file is not the main issue nowadays and therefore they aren't using manpower on something that aint needed anymore. The point with the DxDiag file is to get an overview of the players hardware and drivers. In this part of the beta, that kind of detailed information is not possible to handle when 10000's of players are flooding the Open Beta servers.

When openbeta hits that's when we need the BetaCenter/AccountManagement site. Not now...just because you have a couple of codes you want to enter. The site isn't needed in the current phase of release - we aren't there yet. Chaillax and enjoy the nice weather :m00:

They cant announce the release of the new website or when OpenBeta hits... everything isn't ready yet. Just sit back and relax, its coming sooner then later.

As to you wanting a GOA run discussion board....LOL That's never gonna happen - not in a million years! FH, VN, WA is where the devs are. Its gonna continue like that post release too!
I'm assuming that feedback will be handled in game like all other large MMOs, no need for a new RightNow (hello DAoC anyone!)...

Seen with my eyes and the six years Ive been playing GOA run servers. They have improved loads. Just count the numbers of posts done by either IainC or Markus on FH or WA. Nuff said!

Yes the current website is sub par and can be improved a lot - I hope and think GOA are working on it, would be a scandal on release day with the main site crashing because its jammed down with all the flash shit all over :p

WAR is coming...and I'm ready!

Good post. Pretty much sums it up. Talk is cheap and action speak louder than words and all that.

If WAR does worse in Europe than the US, it will be because of GOA.

Of course this all mess may be because Mythic/EA is trying to get away with only paying GOA only peanuts for handling WAR in Europe.

In the end I would say Mythic/EA are responsible. The rule is that you usual get what you pay for, and we may well be getting the service Mythic/EA pays for.

Yes, me along with ~60 000 others. 60 000 others that will want to hit the website the second it goes live, thus probably bringing it down a few moments later. What's wrong with planning ahead? Surely the site is already done, so bring it up. Let people enter their codes even if they're not used for anything yet. It will lessen load and improve service when the beta does go live.

I might also note that this is the model that's being used by Mythic, their partner. It's obviously working for them, so why try to reinvent the wheel?

They cant announce the release of the new website or when OpenBeta hits... everything isn't ready yet.
That is, in a word, unacceptable. They've had ages to prepare for the game's launch and if crucial components like the website aren't ready yet, something is seriously wrong.

I'm assuming that feedback will be handled in game like all other large MMOs, no need for a new RightNow (hello DAoC anyone!)...
What are you talking about? Feedback for all large MMOs is handled through official, company-run message boards.

Not having a centralised location for the fans of the game to gather at, socialise in and yes, even give feedback through is a big problem and shooting themselves in the foot. Not to mention it makes them look like a second rate operation. "Want to discuss the game with others? Well there are a wide variety of third party fan forums available!"

EDIT:

At the very least it would be nice - and comforting - to hear some concrete timetables from the guys at GOA. "Our new website will go up at this date. Beta registrations will open at this date. Downloads will be enabled at this date" rather than just constantly being told we'll hear more later. Guess what, guys - there's not much "later" to go anymore.

Also, I naturally respect and apperciate what IainC and Markus are doing for the community, but ultimately it's not enough. The message boards are full of people who are frustrated, confused and even angry.

With the website being in as shoddy condition as it is, many of these people are not getting any information at all. There's nothing on the official site to point people here or to indicate that this is the place to get "blue posts", so many people are left in the dark.

I gotta agree with this. This "things will be coming soon(tm)" attitude they keep fronting for months with nothing happening, does not bode well.
(Then again - they have plenty of time as the game apparently is scheduled for an early 2008 release according to GOA).

Can do A LOT of work in that time :)

Compared to the US they are starting the downlading for the open beta if i understood it correctly in one week, 15th.
That from having a announcement on the 6th. A total of nine days.
Having the site up 3 days before launch for "head start" will inevitably mean it turns into a post start not to mention that the open beta MUST be before that and close about a week before launch to iron out the last things.
So the "soon" or "when it does anything" doesn't hold water.
"soon" was weeks ago and the other seems to be more a excuse to not do anything until it is too late.
That we can't enter our codes to prepare GoA for the open beta indicates to me they don't seem to be to bothered about acctually giving us that opportunity. By opening the registrations at the same time as the open beta will crash the servers both for downloads and registrations with the result of people loosing their codes and spots when codes get eaten by the system and not sending out the right confirmations.
A "small" detail that can be easily avoided by letting people enter codes in good time before and letting people download the bulk of the game in good time before.
That is called thinking ahead and preparing for something. Preparations and thinking ahead is never to postpone or not do what you can to lessen loads on networks and servers.

You guys a yelling DOOOM long before its needed, yes we are a bit behind the US, so what? There is still time to be proactive here.
If the situation is unchanged a week before HeadStart, then I would be worried - not 35 days in advance! Chillax m8! :)

Regarding having centralised forums that will never happen. It never did for DAoC and it has been publically stated that this will also be the case for WAR.
