Has anyone tried changing to Dvorak from Qwerty? How long did it take to learn to touch type with Dvorak as fluently as you did with Qwerty?

I'm going to try Colemak instead. Because it seems a better use of my time than writing an essay.

dude, tbh, it's taken me long enough to be able to type blind in QWERTY. I am scared of even trying to learn another layout.

I'm a self-taught touch typer in Qwerty but when I hear magic words like "reduced RSI" I feel it is worth a shot.

Can't see the point really. All offices I know use a qwerty keyboard so learning something different will just confuse matters...

I tried for around 5 months, but as I would still have to use qwerty for just about everything else, it seemed rather pointless.

At the end of the 5 months (I was doing a lot of data input at the time) I was a little further on from the "double finger hunt'n'stab technique). And confused.

I'm using Gnu Typist to help with that. I'm using all my fingers already, but its a lot slower than I was with Qwerty.
