I'm trying to build up a big DVD collection (nowt else to spend money on :)) What in your opinions are films people simply must own? So far I have...

Kill Bill 1 / Kill Bill 2 / Reservoir Dogs / Pulp Fiction / Natural Born Killers / Lost In Translation / Donnie Brasco / The Boondock Saints / The Untouchables / The Krays :( / Shaun Of The Dead / Scarface / Goodfellas / Godfather 1,2,3 / Battle Royale 1,2 / American Pie 1,2 / Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon / Blair Witch / Monty Python Life Of Brian / A Life Less Ordinary / Airplane / 28 Days Later / Apt Pupil.

Brass Eye / Day Today / Jam / Alan Patridge series 1,2 + Knowing Me Knowing You and Coogans Run / Spaced series 1,2 / Seinfeld series 1,2,3 / Early Doors series 1 / The Young Ones series 1,2 / Bottom / The Office series 1,2 / Ricky Gervais Animals and Politics / Bill Bailey "Part Troll" / Peter Kay Live @ Bolton / Royle Family / Fawlty Towers / Trigger Happy TV.

Any recommendations? I don't see much that isn't mainstream, so if anyone has some hidden gems lemme know. :)

Fight Club (R1 for being uncut) SE
Fifth Element SE
Gattaca
Magnolia
Con Air
City of God
Matrix (r4 uncut)
Alein Quadrology

Monsters Inc.

Ahh shit, I could list hundreds, and go through my entire collection. At the end of the day it's about what you will watch, no point owning a DVD because someone else thinks you must have it.

All depends on your taste in films tbh. Because it's like saying list your favourite movies I suppose

Anyway here's some you may consider to add

Monsters Inc.
2001 a Space Odyssey(silver box version, digitally enhanced includes Soundtrack)
Young Frankenstein
Donnie Darko
Apocalypse Now redux
Star Wars boxset
Ricky O
Ong Bak
House of Flying Daggers
Hard Boiled
Equilibrium
Calitos Way
Taxi Driver

The list is endless

Shameless series 1 (series 2 currently on channel 4, tuesdays 10pm)

Probably THE greatest drama/comedy I have ever seen on TV. Great acting, great storylines and 2 of the funniest characters ever to be seen on TV. Marty, the tourettes syndrome sufferer, and Frank Gallagher (gotta be seen to be believed). I doubt there is a drama or comedy programme on TV that is as true to life as this.

Id also say Early Doors series 1 and 2.

*edit* just saw you had listed early doors :D

Or download the Laserdisc->DVD versions that have been released on the net. Proper widescreen, *moderately* better quality than VHS and Chapter Selection. Tis Gut.

Red Dwarf Series 3,4 & 6.

Amelie & The Elephant Man, the Indiana Jones Trilogy if you can block out the 2nd movie :) Spinal Tap, The Crow, True Romance, Chasing Amy, Wall Street, Run Lola Run, Starship Troopers!

Not sure which do and don't have special editions, I've given up caring..

look around you series one is the best cult comedy around. especially if you ever had to see the 70's/80's 'tv for schools' stuff.
