Started using DVDFab DVD & Blu-ray Copy, DVD Ripper, Blu-ray Ripper Software. Copy DVD, DVDR, Blu-ray Disc to PSP, or iPad/iPhone/iPod. Copy Blu-ray to BD-R, MKV, or Hard Drive. a few years ago and still haven't found anything better.
dvdfab plat for ripping and "shrinking" + the imgburn burn engine = win

Tried DVD shrink and then used handbrake but the settings sometimes get on my tits, takes a lot of fiddling to get it right.

DVDFab is the best one I've used. There's been the odd copy protection that's stumped it, but it works fine 99 times out of a 100.

Currently trying DVDFab to rip the dvd and thus remove the protection systems then using Handbrake.
