Has anyone had this problem before/ does anyone know how to fix it? This is a friend's message:

[QB] So, last night we decide to watch a movie. Our DVD player is the computer. Usually, it works fine.

This time, however, something was wrong. DVDs would only play in black and white. Didnt matter what DVD, either.

I upgraded the firmware, installed a new version of powerDVD, and its still black and white.

I can find no option anywhere that says 'Play all movies in black and white for no damn reason', and even if there is such an option we didn't tick the little box after the last time it was working.

Anyone got any advice? The best I found off of google was a guy on cnet's forums last november with the same problem. seems he had no luck solving it either. [/QB]

[QB] I havent made any changes to the drivers, but i'm downloading the latest as we speak.

It's an Nvidia Geforce 2 MX/MX 400 video card.

if you think that's bad, consider the fact that this machine is running Windows ME and only had 128 mb of ram wen I got here.

Dont think there's any issues with the cables, or the DVD lense for that matter. but, i'll check those out after doing the driver updates. [/QB]

He's downloaded the latest graphics card driver but DVDs are still playing black and white.

If he has an nVidia card he can use TvTool. There's stuff in there to fix the b/w problem.

Ah, a bit of confusion; I thought he was watching the films on his TV, but he's actually watching them on his computer monitor so it has nothing to do with the TV connection, that's even more strange. :)
