It's plain to see the only people that don't like it aren't even nearly getting the entire point of all the Indy films :)

I disagree Kryt; I get the films completely and consider myself a huge fan. It just wasn't as good as the others.

ECA, You die for that. It's now stuck in my head, and I've just bought Ghostbusters 1 and 2 on DVD.

I'll tell you what was wrong with this film; nothing happened.

It isn't a patch on Raiders of the Lost Ark - nowhere near.

I really wish George Lucas would just fuck right off.

Re George Lucus,

What has he done that's fucked things up? I presume he's responsible for Jar Jar?

Well since he did the star wars prequels he seems to have lost any ability he once had. The film I saw today was flat, boring, not very funny and had monkeys attacking communists ffs.

Raiders of the Lost Ark was funny, cheap, b-movie material but worked because it had genuinely exciting and memorable moments. Who can forget the fight at the plane, the moment with the sunlight through the head of the staff, and the fight with the swordsman?

The only time I laughed today was the bit where they said "wow". That was it.

I'm with Tom.

I feel like Mr Lucas (and Mr Speilberg, who frankly hasn't made a good film in years) have been hitting me with the "you're fucking stupid so you'll love it" stick.

Sure, they're accomplished in their art and the film is technically brilliant - but they've too old, too rich and too comfortable to make an edgy genuine movie (like Raiders) anymore.

I think that they see us as people who leave their brains trapped in the fridge surrounded by coke and junk food before we go to the cinema...

Fucking gophers and monkeys. :(

Listening to a lot of the interviews, trailers and additional materials etc, I can't help but get the feeling Spielberg wanted a lot more for it and was "fighting" Lucas all the way to get his way, mostly about special effects and the like. something I agree with Spielberg about.
Lovers tiff, perhaps? ;)

It was bloody good as a film, but indeed it wasn't as good as the first 3. The Last Crusade was my favourite personally, but that was mostly down to the on-screen relationship between Indiana and his dad, it had me in stitches :)

I preferred Crystal Skull to Temple of Doom.

I'd put it only slightly behind Raiders and Crusade.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the wrong side of believable for me. There's a line up to which where things are far fetched but still believable and beyond that it gets silly. Unfortunately this film fell on the silly side with Tarzan monkey swinging etc. Also why the bloody cute animals?!

There was also a distinct lack of 'classic' Indy moments. The only one I consider that comes close was the motorbike riding through the library. It's not very exciting or an amazing stunt or anything but there's something quite cool and funny about it. The way the student starts asking Indy questions and doesn't bat an eyelid at the fact Indy's just skidded along the floor on a motorbike in a library and then calmly answers the question while getting back on the bike.

The "You're meant to be a teacher?" "Part-time" exchange in the graveyard might also qualify but it's rather overegged and over setup.

Also Shia wasn't as annoying as I thought he was going to be which was a relief.

I agree with Opt1 that George Lucas shouldn't be allowed to write unsupervised anymore.

My mum said that Ford's acting was so wooden, it was like watching him in panto - and that's exactly what i've been trying to say. It was like watching him in panto.

I have, and the result is that I won't be going to watch Indiana Jones and the Zimmer of Frame.
