Duelling area ???

How about a duelling area on the frontier somewhere ?

Where players from different realms can Possibly communicate and challenge one another , would allow players from different realms to have a fair gauge of who is the best in a straight duel without adding etc.

Ofc there would have to be safety flags and the like to give fair duels , maybe im gonna get flames and lame comments from some people for even proposing this , but hey afew must have thought about it ....

Shouldn't be too hard to implement it like Tournaments, they had plenty of those in dark ages I think ? maybe like every few days a Tournament in a special battle ground would be nice, and still possible in the storyline, especially since we are running around in outer space every now & then (ml10)

However it would be hard to make people follow the rules without a GM or atleast some1 to supervise, and that would cost goa/mythic more money, unless they use volunteers.

Wasn't there talk of possible Instanced rvr a while ago?

There's still talk of instanced rvr, but I have no idea how far they are to implement it in the US.

Great idea, really.

I sometimes look at the Battleground forums and it seems that those guys have a "duelling area" (it arose because a solo thane always stood at an out-of-the-way location and eventually people caught on to the fact that they could always find duels there).

You just need to come up with an equivalent for full-blown RvR.

Pick a realm, pick a secluded corner of that realm with minimal aggro and as far from keeps/towers as possible. Publicise the area. Then wait for people to arrive. To make this work, you'll need the help of a few friends to ensure that there are almost always people there... If you have people showing up and finding no duels the idea will collapse pretty fast.

Hopefully you'd have enough of the FG types respect the duelling spot (and, really, there should be no reason for them to sweep the area if you choose the spot properly). But ofc you couldn't expect it...

There is some server in the US where they have this like once a week, ppl show up and just duel eachother.

Not sure how the GMs on this server would respond to it but it sure is possible to set up.

Thanks for the couple of duels we had last night @ Eras on my mincer. Tried to repay your favour (when you called off the 2 adds during our 1st fight) by furiously trying to point out the alb group behind you - you understood eventually!

Not sure how the GMs on this server would respond to it but it sure is possible to set up.

They'd react unfavourably if it was an externally arranged farming operation. If the plan was to have people break off the duel at 1-5% health then surely there would be no possible source of complaint? Yes, some accidental deaths would definately occur, but it could hardly be viewed as a dedicated RP farming event.

I logged on to thid with my newly created boney the other day, first run out so and I was still alive by the time I reached CK so I thought I'd try my luck at one of the bridges - ran up to the hib facing bridge, hib side and saw 3 or 4 mids and at least one alb/hib (can't recall which but its irrelevant for the tale) at one end of the bridge - pet was on aggro so in it went, and in came the pm's, oi leave him alone (or interesting words to that affect) we are duelling, stop spoiling our fun! Ha!?

I haven't got a problem with people duelling (so long as they aren't farming rps), although I prefer to just go where you are more likely to pick up a 1 on 1 fight but hey that's probably not convenient for some, but I have when they, through their lack of foresight involve other people that are playing the game as intended, that's why I said to the guy pm'g me why aren't you doing this in some far flung corner out of everybodies way, to which he continued to grunt various idiotic remarks at me!

So yes please, give these (in this instance - rude) dudes some duelling areas so the rest of us can play the game as it was intended.
