Duel event this weekend

I'm going to be trying to run a duel event sometime this weekend
We could either try a knockout torny or just a sort of league thing :)

I know some people see this as RP farming- we will be working a system to not be fighting to the death if one of the partys choose-
a Bow - fight to the death and live with the 5 mins downtime if you lose.
a Salute - fight to 10% to 25%- end the fight by yelling for help AND backing off

i'd like everyone who is intrested to either post here for PM me

also a mid and hib person to help me on IRC sort things out would be nice :)

There are always people that "accidently" press their DD button, or "happen" to miss F6 and deliver a killing blow...

I know that.. I was one of them :p

... or a critical hit with a large weapon - and so on.

Be sure not to choose emain for you duel-event tho cause I will be there and I tend to kill anything I can - duelevent or no duelevent :)

It's not a wrestling match, or the olympics ... it's war!! The thread is posted in the Realms versus Realm section, yet has nothing to do with Realm combat ... just some bored people playing their private game in a massive multiplayer game. This kind of thing really makes my blood boil :rolleyes:

if you don't want to take part fine i'll not stop you
if you don't like duels or the idea of a duel then don't post here because i don't care about your personal opinion- duels will not be stopped by GOA- they don't like it but do allow it (thanks for posting that link you've shown that setup dueling will not be stopped)

suprised that melee class's are saying how much they h8 duels....i give them about 3 weeks :)

I've played the game since April, never fought a duel. Had some 1v1 encounters but completely unplanned, and always to the death.

As for not posting on this thread I have views about duels and duellists ... so this seems like a nice thread to mention them in :)

GOA said that arranged duels can expect uber guards to wander by them, so if they were to read this thread your duellists might be in for a nice surprise. There are many other people who feel the same way as I do about duels ... maybe we could all turn up and spoil the fight? :p

All I can say is that if you are running a dueling event then do it well away from the beaten track, some far off corner somewhere, or expect someone to interrupt and attack the lot of you

why o why? i'm not against duals, but its to the death with a release not a rez, no one gets spared. thats the one i like. only sissy's dual with the certainty to be rezzed.

I once fought an unexpected duel with Louise.. I was about to kill her and then she started crying and I couldn't bring myself to land the killing blow on her... five minutes later a group of her middy friends popped up and killed me as she watched... Damn in Louise you turn me into the merciless RP whore i am today :D

Yeah I always feel really really bad when I attack louise too :( s'not fair the power she has over us :(

I still kill her tho cos I'm so very very ewul :eek:
(but mainly to avoid what happened to you later happening to me too)

have once duel, and that happend probably like mythic wants to be.
was in yggdra gate and notice one orange highlander to me, if remember correct i was early 40?
we tryed one time match, but he back off, run again to him and short match, and he back off again, and sit down, so i sit too and reg full end back.
after this we just hit head together and fight to end, i loose but way this happend was ok.
dont remember opponent name but all my respect to him.

but organised duel?! no.

Do we now if Louise is actually female or is "she" a 44 year old Fortran programmer with a beard that you could grow badgers in... and simply chose a really attractive toon so all the enemy leave "her" alone? ;)

As for Louise, she is one of the sweetest gals I know in this game. Luppa (sp?) killed her and Twiz last night as they spent their last evening together, and I made sure I tracked that finger waggler down and put an end to him.

I dueled with Male, Glad, Klav, Louise, Down, Nilo and co a week or so ago and noone made any rp, well ther were 2 accidental deaths, but that was in a space of 2 hours and I myself had 15 odd duels, never to the death. GOA does NOT mention such duelling in their RightNow article, it only mentions "Healers on hand to raise the fallen" which is not intended here.

I am anti rp farming duelling, but that wont stop me arranging non death duels with people I trust, and yes I will keep them private and wont broadcast them on the public forums.
