That was my first song of the new year when I was DJing, freaked out a bunch of people, especially as my next track was 54 Cmryu Beats which manages to be even more scary than Cock Ver 10.

For anyone without the album I did a pretty famous rip that's floating around from the Vinyl boxset release.

Aphex Twin when you're tripping is seriously bad for the head though. Had a friend round once, some years ago, who was a musician and a seriously good one at that, anyway we were merrily tripping away on some penguins and I put Aphex Twin on and he was coping fine until Green Calx suddenly burst out of the speakers and he lost it totally, went off on one and I ended up chasing him through the streets of Glasgow trying to convince him that music was still worth studying because not everyone could see the notes....

He was never quite the same after that really, but in a good way

Richard James is an funny little man (heh), he's undoubtedly a thoroughly talented individual, but much of his music rubs me up the wrong way. I'm well aware certain songs are meant to (ventolin, etc) be kind of irritating, but much of his ambient* work is too intrusive to be truely ambient. Its quite bizarre.
Also, not enough of his tracks have vocals. It seems so much emptier without them :/

*based on SAW2, I've not heard 85-92.

I love Aphex's work simply because it's so out of the ordinary. Hearing Cock ver 10, 54 Cmryu Beats, or even Windowlicker when I'm out gives me a funny sensation, and forces me to dance, admittedly in a spazzed out way, but that's all you can do, and it feels fantastic.
