I think the suggested price for that drive is around $500. So the drives alone could probably cost $12,000!

Wouldn't mind a setup like that but if you bear in mind the cost of each drive, I'd wager the 2 raid controllers used cost more than a dozen of the drives, the rest of the setup is fairly insignificant in cost, even the mobo and cpu arrangement

I would have loved to see them do it properly though, personally - I'm fairly sure that setup would have bottlenecked it quite badly due to the memory setup.

I was considering getting some OCZ Vertex drives recently but decided to hold off until later in the year when Windows 7 appears. Talking about OCZ check out the Z Drive.

Er... saw that a week or so ago, was link on the OCUK forums in the 64gb ones, didn't even look at the sizes.

The 64bg ones are available from Novatech for £115 now (gone up since I got them)

The bottleneck would have been the card really, the same sorta speed levels are got with 8 SSDs, there is another link on youtube somewhere
