Are there any drugs that can make you do that?

I can often realise I'm dreaming and then just decide to dream about whatever I want to dream about. That's schweet :)

I can do that all the time when i dream! sometimes I wonder what would've happened if I hadnt taken control though. Is there more to dreams than sleeping with beautiful women?

I get dreams where I'm just doing stuff with my mates too, often related to what we've been talking about. It gets really confusing when you dream about going to the cinema with someone and then the next day they ask you when you want to go see a film.
"I thought we saw it yesterday??" They look at me strangely then.

A recent dream.

I was with my wife, Stefi, in Southampton and about to go into the John Lewis shop, which has a large revolving door, but in my dream this was a lift with segments like an orange. We were there as we were about to visit Charles Dickens’ house. Stefi had managed to get into a large segment but I was pinned into a smaller one. I felt trapped like a villain. I said to her that I’d meet her at floor 5. On floor 2 the lift stopped and my ex-mother in law got into my segment. “Hello Maureen”, says I “How’re you?” and we proceeded to have a good old chat but I can’t recall what was said.

The “action” then shifted to the bus stop near to my son’s house where I got off the bus (I rarely take buses) and walked up the field which is outside the back of his house. I rested on a bench next to a younger man and waited for Stefi to arrive at said bus stop. It was very sunny. When she didn’t I walked down to the bus stop to see if I could see her. On returning to the bench the younger man was just leaving but with my coat. “That’s my coat!” “No it f*cking isn’t!” We then had a “tussle” on the grass at which point I held a stick (a small one too) across his throat until he released my coat.

I then walked up to my son’s house during which I received a text message from Stefi which I couldn’t read. This was ok though as there was an electronic sandwich board outside my son’s house displaying Stefi’s text which said “I do hope you’ve put on a Quorn and mushroom pie for me”.

And then I woke. I rarely remember my dreams.

The most bizarre part of the dream tbh :)

I know - they're normally about ladies bottoms etc etc but her ladyship thinks this is related to me reaching 40 in January and a pending mid-life crisis.

If you've got to 40 without getting your brown wings then this is probably the case.

I once had a dream about lottery numbers, i wrote down the date and the numbers as soon as i woke up...
The date didnt match for that year ( sept 21 or something ) but i found out that the following year was spot on!!

So a year later i sat down at the tv and watched the draw. My girlfriend had told nearly everyone in my uni halls about my dream so there was about 30 people all crowded around a little portable tv.
I nearly shit myself when the first number was on my ticket, but i didnt get any of the other 5 :(

I also used to dream about me and my friends picking up large chunks of cannabis resin off the floor close to where i used to live! the police always turned up but where quite happy to leave when we told them it was only charcoal :)
(the sad thing is, during 'dry' spells i used to scour the area... just in case!)

Just remembered another odd dream of mine (this one is from when I was about 14).

In my dream I wake up, and my whole room smells like bleach. The walls are dripping wet and all my posters are gone.

I get out of bed and make my way to the door, with the smell of bleach increasing as I do so.

I open the door, and in front of me on the landing is my mother, on her hands and knees, washing my posters in a washbasin and then hanging them on the banister.

One of my friends has the weirdest thing in the world. She'll be having a dream, and it'll seem like she's woken up. Her eyes open, but she can't move, and can still see the dream images. Pretty fucking freaky when that is coming out of a nightmare.

Sorry just jumped into the thread right now, but I suffer from these night terrors from time to time.... I often see shapes of people trying to grab me and stuff but there's nothing I can do about it... it fucking freaks me out.... the main problem is when you're dreaming you're actually practically awake in terms of consciousness and you're in the lightest phase of sleep.. yet your paralysed literally.

<psychology swot>
Basically each time you goto sleep your body drifts through 5 stages of sleep, you go through stage 1, stage 2 (these are the lightest) before moving down to stage 3 and then 4 (4 is where the money's at it's the deepest and this is where your body repairs, revitalises, secrets growth hormones if your balls aint dropped etc) after stage 4 you go back to 3 then 2 and finally into REM (rapid eye movement) in which you're fairly conscious and begin to dream.... however your body deliberatly paralyses itself here to stop you acting out your dreams... when you experience night terrors this kinda gets fucked up slightly :\

after rem you actually wake up for around 90 seconds check your surroundings then go back to sleep (although you're unlikely to to remember this practically everyone does this)

This cycle takes around 90 minutes then repeats....

Cool. Interesting stuff. :)

Presumably having an alarm clock fucks this all up. I shall never wake unnaturally for work again on the grounds that it clearly causes physical and psychological harm.

I vaguely remember having a nightmare (nightmare? Don’t know why…) where a group of children and I was crawling in a small sized passage, kind of like an air vent. The surroundings were a futuristic blue. We all wore white space suits and crawled along in this vent…

When we got to the end of this small sized passage there was a blue flashy light. Like a teleporter you see on most PC games. It actually was a teleporter because the people in front disappeared when they crawled into it. I however, didn’t. I was always too scared when I had this dream. I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it would take me in to space (I think the space suits helped me decide this :p) but dreams are weird and anything can happen. Looking back on it, it sounds pathetic, but I suppose that’s what it is :p

I also have had a strange and weird feeling before, and I’m sure most of you have experienced this too. I say this because I overheard my sister talking about her experience of it. It’s a curious feeling because you wonder what happens when you go to sleep. The biology behind it I suppose. Again this sounds stupid but it frightened me as a kid.

Wow crazy stuff, and cool forum :)

When I was a lot younger I used to have several recurring dreams.

1) I could fly around which was superb! I never went anywhere particular but just around where I was living at the time. Its one of the best feelings Ive experienced. I did feel a little restricted though. I guess that was due to me getting tangled up in my duvet.

2) "Waking" up in a strange house only to discover there are snakes everywhere! No matter where I went they would be slithering around all over the place. So most of the dream is spent trying to avoid all the snakes. Wasnt pleasant.

3) Being in an usual place being chased by a robotic dog with huge metal jaws and ragged teeth! This was quite scary too cos It would always be gaining on me.

Well I'm obviously broken, I don't have that. There have been countless times where I'm having a dream of riding a bike or flying or whatever, and then fall over, and wake up in a massive spaz attack like I'm falling.

I'm sure it makes me look like a complete retard :D

I had a dream last night I went into my 2pm interview today with one of my tutors and proceeded to beat them to death with an iron that I had in my rucksack...

Problem is, I don't have an iron in real life :(

Use a spatula. It'll take longer, but at the end you'll feel better for it.

MMMm I hate it when you've just dropped off and you feel like you're falling off the bed/chair and you wake up with such a fuckin start it's awful. I heard that it's you're heart skipping a beat or something but that's probably bollox, it's more like 50 when you wake up like that.

When I was bout 8 I used to get a recurring dream about falling off a cliff face. I'd always wake up before I hit the bottom when I woke it felt like I had dropped from height onto my bed :s

1) Damien never could drive very well to be fair lol

2)You're ACTUAL posters when you were 14 would probably prompt your mum to do that :)

3) When you were 8, you smoked cigars, and they went to your head.

4) Thank fuck I don't appear in any of your dreams :D

I wont even BEGIN to discuss what I dream about....

I just had a dream where I took Robbies place in Eastenders, and was having to decide if I wanted to go to India with that asian bird.

Was a strange dream.:chortle:
