Ali was very very good, however I dont think he would do well against a guy like Tyson. He's just impossible to get away from when he's really mad. The problem with Foreman, was that he wasn't aggressive enough.

Foreman was probablly just as harder hitter than tyson but he never had the chance against ali reason being that he was not fast enough, Tyson on the other hand was quick and timed his punches to perfection:p

Ali would win because his corner would cut his glove if Tyson got any offence ;)

But seriously i do not know enough about boxing to say the above line seems to be bough up every time Ali is discussed in work.

i personally think of ALL the past heavyweights... NON of them could take tyson when he was in his prime.... the raw strength and agressivness of tyson beat oponents most of the time before he got in the ring... and i dont think any boxer ragardless of his skills and speed could take tyson out.he was just to ruthless and powerfull.

tyson was a scary mother fucker when he was in his prime.

tyson had a glass jaw if i remember correctly, dont know if it was in his prime but saw him go down a awful lot when he was clocked, didnt really watch boxing when tyson started out.
But i think Ali would win simply because he has a boxing mind and would go in with a tactic opposed to tyson's "go in and bash stuff"

Tyson never got clocked really until the end of career - he spent the time clocking everyone else. I have read a lot about Ali and some of his fights across his career - even in his prime, he fought quite a few bums and struggled to put them away at times - he was more about being able to take a punch and then outbox his opponent over the 12 rounds than pan them in the first, some say it was because if his style and the amount of blows he allowed himself to take that left him in the position he is in now - don't know if I agree with that or not myself but either way its a shame how he is now.

I think Tysons power and speed would be too much for Ali to contain in the first few rounds but if Ali managed to get it past 5/6 rounds then maybe he would have a chance but I doubt he could take the punches Tyson could deliver - Henry put Ali down and I seriously doubt he hit as hard as Tyson. Tyson in 3 I reckon...gawd what I would pay to see that fight compared to the dross knocking about at Heavyweight these days.

Henry Cooper would have beaten Ali if it was not for the cut to his eye.

Tyson was awesome in his hay-day, but Ali was something special. :)

I'm not liking the higher weighted belts (mainly cos I hate Williams (met him and he was a twat) but really enjoying Khan fight (young lad from Olympics.)

First time I say Tyson get hit properly was Bruno in the 1st round of their 1st fight. For a second or too both fighters looked stunned, Tyson from the punch and Bruno from the shock of landing such a good punch. He didn't follow it up and Tyson dominated the whole fight apart from that one moment.

Ali would have let Tyson punch himself out as he did with so many fighters and won it later in the fight.

Aye Bruno seemed embarrassed to have caught Tyson it seemed. Maybe if Ali could weather Tyson's power he would have a chance its just if he could is the eternal question - Tyson was a lot quicker than Foreman so he would land more punches with the same kind of power than Foreman did.

Thing I always notice if this comes up in a pub or something though - the younger people go for Tyson, the older for Ali - guess its to do with who you saw first and it sticks in your mind how awesome they were...

Never hear this kind of discussion in 20 yrs about Ali v Skelton or any such horror.

stfu, rocky marciano.

he hit stupidly hard, as hard as tyson, but he was lethal throughout the fight, tyson only lasted 5-6 rounds then his punchs just didnt have the power, marciano hit 300-500lb heavy bags, for multiple rounds, he could knock you out in the first or last round.

Correct in some sence, some young people also prefer ali, but people grew up watching tyson same as the ali fans would of grown up watching him. And people saying ali would wear tyson down ? I dont think so tyson in his time could go back to playing 15 rounds instead of the crappy 12:p

But wasn't he a rapist the same way Robbin Van Persie was a rapist as in the girl only started saying no when she got to the the police station the next morning?
