I lied the first time Talsar picked me

Hell, I used to whine quite agressively in DR threads about how hard it was to get in a DR if you had no experience on them (weren't any public raids then)...

No experience = No DR = No experience...

So I whined at my friends (well Martok, Catherine, Graendel & Evita as everyone else hated me ) sulked a lot and eventually got a replacement spot outta sympathy!!!

Unfortunately, DRs to require people to pay more attention than other PvE raids as a players inaction can make the raid sooo much more stressful than it needs to be, slows it down a lot and generally increases the work everyone else has to do...

Public raids are deffinately your friend now when it comes to getting experience, see what the dragon does, understand when you're about to be glared at or pbaoed so you can run away in time.

Also I'd advise always signing up, being in or around Gothwaite should drop out spaces occur and be on friendly terms with someone who regularly DRs... Having someone vouch for you is a great way to get on one of these replacement spots.

One thing though, once you get your chance at this, make damn sure you listen and only do what you're asked to... Trying to be clever usually ends in tears and no more invites :/
