The 3 headliners are.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, LINKIN PARK and IRON MAIDEN

I am somewhat disappointed with this tbh, I hope the rest of the line up grabs me by the balls.

So, who is considering going?

Doing the Tidy weekenders again too, such jokes to be had.

Funny thing is not really into hard house anymore more into electro/house/funky house

i quite like Linkin Park, they do a good show live most the time.
But they may not really fit in with the rest of the traditional lineup
I cant stand Iron Maiden so im in no position to comment on them :p

little offtopic, anyone noticed how retardedly high the ticket prices at Reading are nowdays.
I remember when you could do the whole weekend for like £20

I saw them at download 2004 and they did indeed give good live show and they did fit in IMO. ;) I heard the singer (chester)? screwed up his voice tho, don't suppose u have seen them live since then?

You can thank the emo kids for that. Rich priviledged kids that idiolise musicians and treat gigs/festivals as if theyre "cool" coupons. i.e "oh yeah i went to 12 live shows this month" "what were the bands you saw?" "dunno but it was LIVE"

A festival managers dream basically. hordes of rich stupid people.

Hmm hope the rest of ther line up is half decent, went 2005 and really enjoyed it and saw Sabbath which made my day but missed last years due to A-levels. Will probaly go this year regardless love the festival atmosphere and will probaly go Linkin' Park just for kicks, and definately see Maiden but hopefully they won't play the whole of their new album like they did on theirt last tour, hopefully there will be summat decent on one of the other stages when MCR play if not I'll sit of with a few beers n start the night early.
Have a feeling there will be riots this year again though, first you've got the stories from last year which will attract dickheads looking to start them, secondly every year you hear a lot the older crowd complaining about the number of scene bands and kids about, as many still consider download to be the old monsters of rock under a new name (I wish it still was) , think think this is the first time any of them have headlined. If there isn't a reasonably big named band to cater for this crowd at the same time theres going to be a lot of pissed off metalheads.
Think I'll camp away from any lighting and security pylons this year.

we very much appreciated the fans giving us such great support in us playing the whole album which, lets face it, was not necessarily the easiest thing to do for us or them! It was definitely the right challenge for us at that time but outdoors in the summer is different and as a thank you to our fans we will be including quite a few more 'classic' favourites balanced with some of the tracks from the new album

Booked tickets - like all 3 headliners, and was really hoping to see LP this summer. I hope the rest of the lineup is good as well, but I've never been to a bad Download yet :)

Being a bit poncy this year, and staying in the VIP camping section ;)

Worth every penny imo, especially as you get full backstage passes :D

Some of these would sway me, and out of interest don't Slayer play every year?, I wonder if they have some unofficial agreement. :p

They played at reading last year and i dont think they played download as well, so it's probably likely they'll play this year since as you say they play a lot :p

And pffft! at VIP tickets, the atmosphere and camping is half the fun :)

I used to find it fun, but there comes a time in a mans life where he just cannot tollerate dumb asses who get over excited and can't handle drink/drugs, or young girls who get over emotional and either cry all night or scream at people. (even if they are a minority) So rather than getting pissed off and reacting to it I remove myself from it ;)

After seeing that list....I wouldn't go even if I lived in England ^^

Iron Maiden is nice, but I've seen a live vid from LP and it didn't really convince me. Evanescence and NIN would be cool to watch I guess, never seen them before, but well.....not worth to pay a ticket for so few things I guess =)

Tbh I'd rather take a ride to Wacken 2007. The bands are (I put the ones I don't know in () )

(1349)
Amorphis - I really would like to see them, top band imo =)
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - nice power/heavy metal from Germany
(Belphegor)
(Benedictum)
(The Black Dahlia Murder)
(Black Majesty)
Blind Guardian - TEH voice, Hansi Kürsch
Bullet For My Valentine - heard a CD from them and thought it was rather nice
Cannibal Corpse
(ChthoniC)
Communic - saw them, didn't like
(Destruction)
Dimmu Borgir - a reason not to go
(Dir En Grey)
(Disillusion)
(Enslaved)
(Falconer)
Grave Digger
Haggard
Heaven Shall Burn - saw them, didn't like
Iced Earth - TEH guitar god, Jon Schaffer
(Immortal)
In Flames - really like their music, so would like to see them
JBO - hehehe, never seen them before, but well, they make pure fun music :p
(Kampfar)
Lacuna Coil
(Letzte Instanz)
Lordi
(Mendeed)
Moonsorrow - really good band. Their tracks are a bit long (12-30mins), but the sound is so wonderful. Recently discovered them thanks to my bro and they are one of my favourites on the list tbh
(Moonspell)
(Municipal Waste)
Napalm Death
(Narziss)
(Neaera)
(Norther)
Rage
(Sacred Reich)
Samael - don't.....ever...listen.....to this. I don't know how they were before, but when their drummer decided that no drums were needed and started to do synthesizer only, it definately got worse :p I saw them once, never again please.
(Saxon)
Schandmaul - don't like so much
(Sodom)
(Sonic Syndicate)
(Stormwarrior)
Stratovarius - would like to see, they seem to be a bit like Sonata Arctica
(Swallow The Sun)
(Therion)
Tyr - they're don't play bad, but I didn't like their music and their bassist acts like a clown on scene :p
(Unheilig)
(Vader)
(The Vision Bleak)
(Volbeat)

I was almost sick when I saw MCR and linkin park up on the website. MCR arent metal (and are also very annoying) and linkin park dont have the popularity atm to headline.

I'd be very suprised if ac/dc played now , as their home is donnington and surely they'd be expected to headline if they did make an appearance. Maybe they'll be the secret band ! (we can only wish).

I went last year , but 07 are gonna have to pull out megadeth, slayer, QOTSA, motley crue, sum41 and some other biggies for me to buy a weekend ticket. If they wack megadeth on the sunday along with Maiden, i'll probably just buy a day ticket.

btw megadave thats such a ripped name :/ but cheers for info
