downgrading a client

i know you can upgrade a daoc client by just changing the update.dat file to a new url.. is it possible to downgrade it the same way? will it work to change the darkness rising url to a toa client or sumn and it will change to the old toa thingy without problems?

I copy and pasted a DR client and then changed to TOA client.. After patching the spells had wrong textures
