Though I am sure I read somewhere that the older the couple are the more chance there is of having offspring with Down's.

Here you go:

National Institute of Child Health and Human Development said:
[Q:] Do only older women give birth to babies with Down syndrome?

[A:] Researchers have established that the likelihood that a reproductive cell will contain an extra copy of chromosome 21 increases dramatically as a woman ages. Therefore, an older mother is more likely than a younger mother to have a baby with Down syndrome, but older mothers account for only about 9% of all live births each year and 25% of Down syndrome births.

still.. lets say we can survive now, but we evolve into something "superior". something changes in the climate and the "superior" one dies out (and the "Normal" one does not exsist anymore). The "normal" one could have survived this climate change. is that a step forward or a step to the side?

this is actully how AIDS medicine works.
there a couple of medicines for AIDS. they are quite hard on the human body so you cant take more than 1 at the time. they work really well, eradicating the vira you have, but while it eradicates the vira evolves into something it cannot fight. medicine 2 can fight the new one, but not the old one. so for a while youre getting healthier but when it peaks you get really ill and have to change medicine... so is it evolving forward or to the side?
