Double POSTing PC

I know I'm normally the one answering the questions, but I thought I'd put one your way for a change :D

System is a fairly straight forward setup - Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 motherboard and C2D 6400 Processor, 3gb ram etc. Runs like a peach.

Something I've not encountered before (at least in this manner) has started to happen. To be quite honest, it might always have happened. It POSTs twice.

Computer turns on (or restarts after a reset/restart from windows etc) - VGA bios up first, then normal POST, then immediately after the quick memory test completes, the PC resets - VGA bios again, POST again, memory test again, but this time continues on.

This could be something as simple as a feature of the board or a setting in the BIOS, but I'm buggered if I can find what. Updated the bios (was due!), reset to defaults, tried the more obvious settings to see if it made a difference, none.
RAM is fine - ran it through an 8 hour loop of Memtest86 last night with no issues or warnings. And yeah, power supply is fine too. Not that I'd expect that to be the problem.

I've used Gigabytes email support thing but I'm not expecting a reply in the near future, so thought I'd see if anyone had experienced this previously. I'm not THAT worried as after that second POST it all works hunkey dorey - it's just a niggling doubt in the back of my mind.

Cheers

you should be reading properly! ;)
As I said, yeah I updated the bios with the most recent official release and it still exists.

sorry mate, I'm dead on my feet, you're quite right!

the only thing I can come up with is taking it all to bits and then putting it back together again. other than that, if it works fine while running then why worry :)

sod off :)
ain't the PSU, checked it manually.
Last thing Gigabyte told me in their 4th support email tonight is "it sounds like it's buggered and it's hard to tell without physically being there - get it RMA'd from your supplier"

So I'm just going to make do and try a few of my own tricks :)

Job done - simple setting as I suspected, which a bios update and a default reset didn't touch. Feature called C.I.A. (intelligent automatic overclocking) that overclocks your CPU (and underclocks) according to the load - so as soon as a game fires up, it overclocks and you get as much juice as possible - and when you're idling listening to Foobar/Winamp etc and surfing Freddyshouse, it underclocks. Rather akin to Speedstep processors without the overclocking ;)
For some reason that's a "default" setting and having removed it and fixed the proc at 2.4ghz, job done.
