I think 'crash' is overstating it, probably not one thing actually hit another because of the distances between.

I've often wondered about the galaxies and stuff. While we're always worried about our extinction coming from a meteor strike, how exactly can we know if and when the Milky Way collides with another galaxy.

I'd love to be there when it happens though, if it ever would!

You'd have to be immune to death to get the ultimate 3D front row seats (able to withstand the vacuum of space, extremely cold temperatures (down to a few degrees above absolute zero), extremely hot temperatures (millions of degrees C), be immune to gamma radiation, have eyes able to look directly into a healthy stellar core, etc etc etc...oh and plenty of popcorn :p:p

theres a good chance it will collide with the andromeda galaxy but not for about 3-5 billion years, theres a good chance our solar system will be toast by then anyway. all we would probably see is a shit load of new stars in the sky the chances of gettin hit by a sun or planet are extremely remote have to remember galaxies are mostly empty space :D look the computer model up i saw it on discovery channel looked impressive.

but in this case.. its 4 galactic clusters over a really long time period.. so gravity comes into play.. something will have smashed into another, hence the numbers thing.. and oter bits will have flown off to pastures new...

its still eek!... think about it and its bottom lip wibble time
