Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else just plays this game for bg1 fun ? everything else seems boring now, rvr is just mezz city and i cant be arsed spending hours with my 43rd thurg just to get 0.1 bub of xp

But lvling a chara to 24th spending about 2 weeks killing peeps, then starting over again is about the only fun this game gives me now :(

anyways give me a wave if you see a wizzy in black with green guild cloak, called moznell ( before you PA my ass ) :p

yeah i am only making characters that reach lvl 24 for Thidranki... cos Thidranki is the only good place you have a laugh and is always active....

As for the RvR..... the first couple of times its great... but after awhile it does become boring... thats why i never really play this game much anymore... cos its the same old thing with the same people...

I'm spending most of my time having a laugh playing BattleField 1942... just waiting for SWG to comes out in the Europe then i'll be leaving DAoC ... unless SI is released before SWG

well non thid rvr is really what you make it, if you only go to emain then yes, the phrase "utter mindboggling boredom that makes you want to cut your wrists with a wire saw" does spring to mind :), but there's much more, there's hunts to the xp zones to send tons of lowbies back to their binds :D (no xp killing mind you), you can do big guild keep takes/defences, all sorts, and the frontiers are BIG too, rvr can be a lot of fun if you play it properly.

problem is that there are too many silly sods in this game who have powerlvl'd to 50 and only know about emain when they think of rvr, which basically consists of camping amg endlessly, which is run at first but soon becomes as boring as you can imagine.

now i love thidranki, great fun!, but i'd lvl'd a couple of thid chars now and really can't see me doing it again, why? repetition, the pve side of this game is utterly awful if you only get to do the first 24lvl's of mobs and exploring over and over and over again, you never get to do high lvl df hunts, EZ trips, gank hunts for the epic mobs etc..., even just normally xping is better if done over all the lvl's because the mobs are actually differnet, the utter boredom of simply going over the same mobs and locations time and again is sickening.

personally i love thid, and i'll be very displeased when arrowshot finally caps (despite all my efforts to the contrary, he's nearing 300 points now so not too long left, i can probably string it out over another few weeks but no more than that unless i stop playing him for a while again :)), but the point is that there is actually something worth going for after thid, it's basically down to whether your willing to consider doing something other than sitting at amg looking at albs looking at you and nothing else all day and night :m00:.

i just think they're both good :)

i only play bg1 at the moment

ive put a

skald
shadowblade
berserker
runemaster and now a hunter thru there.

just biding my time till PvP comes out, to see how that handles for better or for worse.

let you know more after that.

yes, without BG1 i would probably have left DAOC by now, but the no gankage, small zone, constant action of thid is great, i love it!

slight correction to my post

once arrowshot's gone, i'll probably respec my chanter to pure mana so that i can lvl her to 20 fast, then resepc back to light/enchantments maybe or just full light and get her to 24, should be interesting anyway because i've never really played a chanter before in rvr, those light nukes hit damn hard at full spec too :)

but starting another char from scratch for thid? very doubtful.

Listen guyz... I know BG1 is very very very much fun but........
did you know there is a thing called BG2? And BG3? I mean... what the heck is wrong with them? I've tried to advertize for a meeting in BG2 and it was completely empty! I could even see the dust there. So you see... there are alternatives to BG1 and Emain (all the rvr which seems to be for the 40++ elite) Why not camp the other BGs aswell? Is there a logical explanation as to why the european servers are so empty there?

It takes alot less effort to get a level 20-24 character, even with soloing most characters dont take very long.
BG1 always has people in it, BG2 & BG3 dont and it is unlikely this will change. Who wants to level a char upto 29/34 for a BG that is more than likely to be mainly empty and basically a waste of time.

Yeah basically you can level a char for BG1 in a few days. Kill task to 20, then just ding 21-24 in a groups. Dinging to 29 or 35 is a slower process, and rarely worth the effort. No amount of pleading is gonna get people into BG2 & 3.

I mostly play Thidranki now, more fun than real RvR for me, and I can try lots of classes and different specs out, and I don't spend 2 months of my life levelling a char only to realise it actually blows in RVR.

I think have put 5 chars through thidranki now, and every one of them was emmense fun. What wasnt fun was the mind numbing tedium of getting to 24.

With one of the patches anyone with a lvl 50 character can create new chars at least lvl 20. I have done the lvl 50 stuff and its not that great (for me at least). So my Shaman now has the honour of being my route to endless Thidranki characters.

This also means that Thidranki will probably become very nicely populated.

One other idea I had was would it be feasable for Mythic/Goa to make the BG's common to the server base. ie english Thidranki is common to excal/pryd etc... That would be very interesting and a nice way to meet ppl on other servers.

My chanter rocked in Thid, with full light spec you will destroy enemies, only problem is getting too many rps, so I started just stunning for others at the end.

I specced in Enchantment as well, cos the DMG add really helps everybody and makes you very popular. Also makes your pet pretty uber and a real pain to the TK campers, I couldn't believe how long he would last with 5 people on him.
And the sweet joy of being Hit by a stealthed Archer outside TK and watching your pet run him down, 1 guy must nearly run back to his keep, cos I got the realm point about 3 mins later LOL.

hehe, viewing the pet from the angle fo that archer though, they're not that good because as a ranger i kill cabbies in two hits, three considering first one allways hits bt, one if i manage to crit them (yeah right :p, but it happend a couple of times), simple fact is that the pet is dead before it reaches me because the caster is too :) (same with sorcs).

now the chanter pet though, if you have sense and use the nuker it's a different story, bt hit doesnt send it after you, but damage does, i'd guess that you'd still be dead if you didnt manage to send it manually after bt went down (not hard if paying attention), now if you were hit once for damage then i dont think it'd cast fast enough to save you... BUT, if it did manage to interupt the archer in time due to you sending it manually earlier when bt drops then they're royally screwed :D, snare and DD's, unlimited distance, huge buffs, and the ability to follow them inside the pk without being attacked make it an utter nightmare for anyone running from one :D, gonna enjoy that i think!, of course the fact that it has no power bar and can fire through walls is nice too :m00:

hehe, glad to see that cabalists are too stupid to spec/use nearsight =)

Neways having gr8 fun w my NS in the BG, but cant see myselvese leveling up another shade when he caps out,
so Im gonna TRY to level him to 50 in a while I think.....
But asassins are a real bitch to level cant solo well and cant group well (great combo eh.) So unless I get REALY tiered of dieing in every rvr encounter w my mentalist main I prolly wont bother :p
