Ok my ISP has suspended my E-mail account stating that i have downloaded 3 pirated films from the internet.

I know that this cant be, as i am the only one to have access to the PC but all i use it for is my online gaming, My ISP insissts that they have evidence of these "so called downloads" but im not sure what they mean.

Has anyone got any ideas??

ask them to show you what their proof is. before you know exactly what they hold against you, it is impossible to admit/deny anything.

taking your IP may be possible within certain criteria. your ISP will know what these are. if needed I can go in to greater detail. because of those criteria, it is possible to know if you did it or not.

taking your email addy is much easier, and doesn't entail actually hacking your account. I don't mean to frighten you, but anyone with a decent measure of computer know-how can do it.

• are you *really* the only one who can use your computer? are you sure? you can see in your computer's logs when it was last turned on/rebooted/etc. I hope you *are* running a firewall, virus scanner etc and you *are not* running windows as administrator. heh.
• if you are sure that you are without blame, invite them into your house to see if they can prove it. if you really are (sorry heh) blameless, you have nothing to hide. show them everything, your games, your porn, etc. you *don't* have those films, so there's no problem is there?

hehe i would but the ISP i am with is the only ISP allowed to operate in my area, they have a monopoly over BT and every other ISP in the country.

Kingston comms is there name, and a bunch of retards they are!

If you have a normal PSTN BT landline I can't see how they can monopolise anything. Even if you're an LLU customer to them directly surely you can have *any* IPStream product too?

He's in Hull, they've had their own telecoms company for a LONG time. I knew someone using them way back in 1990/91 when local calls were a flat rate of 5p per call. Did she ever curse if she had to reconnect the modem....

In short, Hull is not like the rest of the UK for telecoms. Kingston have a total monopoly AFAIK.

As for the original question. Well '3 pirated films' downloaded doesn't sound like something a trojan would do so you can probably rule that out. If you indeed did not make those downloads (and nor did any other user of the connection in your home) then I'd suspect someone there has ballsed up checking their logs.

Turns out that is exactly what they did, They got the dates mixed up and just checked who had the IP at such an such date of course it turns out to be me.

All they have said is "you are now re-connected"
