DoD ? NO! CoD!

Day of Deafeat -? Camp of Defeat more like - I haven't played it for about 6 months now so I downloaded v3.0 and OMG it's like everyone camps and you're constantly being killed without knowing who or what shot you.

Felt like putting my fist through my monitor.

What a crap start to a sunday morning :(

I even cast spells of visability and still couldn't see the camping snipers!

The main point being that you die too easily and since lots of people camp you spend fucking ages doing fuck all. Worse than CS.

Thats only 3 maps innit? But if you play right you dont die much anyway :)

oh dear and I was hoping 3.0 would fix my 2.1 woes. I don't think I'll bother to d/l it now. The refreshing thing about pre-2.0 Dod was that it wasn't a CS clone. Yes you died quickly with vaguely realistic damage systems, but it hadn't turned into a camp fest and people on both sides would usually attack and the gameplay was relatively fast and fun. Doesn't seem to happen a lot now :(

Just for the record, there are now3 para maps, with some new weapons, objectives and "round based" games, like Counter-strike. Personally I quite like them myself, and although theres a few peeps moaning about em here and online they are really popular, its nigh on impossible to get on a server running the maps atm, christ even the BW servers were full lol :)
There are still all the traditional DoD maps, and one or two new ones I beleive, and they play just the same.
DoD must be doing well btw, the n00b quotient last night was huge, loads of CS players saying "ew this is shite I cant cap this flag "etc. I did start explaining for a bit, then had to resort to RTFM :)
Tremor you'd own at DoD once you got used to it m8 :)

I been playing dod since beta 1.0 and before that i played CS all the time, but i gave it up to play dod.

and with every release dod has got better and better...beta 2.1 was the best but still had a few problems but beta 3.0 has fixed these and at the same time added a new game mode which is similar to CS, which i would say is no bad thing.

but at least the maps are not capture the flags anymore and have objectives, i just hope that the next release will get rid of most of the cap the flags maps and replace them with specific objectives......

Personally , I like the capture the flag maps, Caen2 , Anzio, Rammelle and Avalanche are among my favourites.
Oh well, were all different I guess :)
Beta 1.3 for me btw :)
