lots of new features, paratrooper maps, with round based CS style, so once yer dead thats it till the round is over, should make it much more tactical, as you die easily in dod.

new weapons and maps and objectives for the paratroopers.
Amazing Cut scenes before each map showing the objectives.
new features such as shooting ppls helmets off there heads :D

plus the usual bug fixes.

Fuck me, Ive onlly just got good at 2.1

I hope this isnt going to be another lagfest like the last one was when it was released.

Yeah looks really good though doesnt it? The paratroopers look good in particular .

2.1 sorted that ages ago Emb. Though move-with-the -times BW has yet to realise that :(

Nonsense. So Blueyonder, Jolt etc all have at least 16 -man servers, plus one 32 man server, yet mighty barrysworld has 12 man? Tell you something, it seems to me that no one who has any influence at BW has ever played DoD, or is ever likely too. And the same may go for other games too , I shouldnt wonder :(
go on reply with a one line post, it wont change the facts m8.

of course you could just ask the DoD liaison why it's 12 man and that you'd like 16 man.

is there a DoD liason ? Not that im aware of,thats half the problem.
Check the game servers forum for my (3 week old) thread there on the subject.

I actually haven't played DoD 2.1 AT ALL yet, so I'd better have a blast at it soon and make the 3 hour download worthwhile :/

Lol Staz ,it's all just so tediously slow. Winds me up, lately BW seem to be lagging in quite a few areas ,which is a shame.
Ch3tan, I will contact the liason, though if you see my thread in the game servers forum you'l see Deathace has responded to it, though that was a fortnight ago.


/EDIT Just been playing on the BW servers this afternoon, as I expected even caen2 is playable with 5 a side (after all thats what it is, you know with peeps leaving and others joining etc)
,but we played Cherbourg and Koln and tbh it was like getting lost there was so many empty bits !
Please dont get me wrong folks, im not slagging off BW, which after all is my net home , as it were, I just want us to have the right servers thats all :)

I have to say that whenever I play DoD (which admittedly isnt that often) the BW servers are usually empty.

But what you said about Koln Throd is true, on a small team, its too easy to never see anyone, its such an intricate map.

I see DoD 3.0 may be coming out next week, am I the only one I wonder who has reservations about it being turned into simply a WW2 version of Counter-Strike, what with all the no reinforcements and "mission-based" maps coming out?
Hope Im wrong btw, if (the other side of the coin) Dod gets just a bit better it could easily become my main game, as it were.

well the new maps are mission based and when you die, you have to sit out the round like cs, but the old maps are still in and you spawn when you die as normal in those, so it has new version and still the old fun one.

Also it will be possible to have maps where one side respawns and the other one has limited spawns/no spawns like CS... to represent a defending side with limited defenders and and an attacking side with continouse reinforcements or vice versa....which could be a nice idea and a cool thing to play....although none of the maps in the release will be like this...some custom maps may appear with this idea.

i'm looking forward to the cs style spawning, as it will mean you have to be more tactical to survive, instead of running around killing a few peeps dyeing, respawning and going on to kill a few peeps.

Atm dieing in dod means nothing as you just respawn, so hopefully the skill level needed will rise as now you have to survive to do well. :D

I'm interested so see the new style of play (though only in addition to the existing style). DoD is the only game I keep coming back to. :)

Just a note, you don't respawn where you die. Depending on the map you respawn back at your starting point, or at a previously captured flag.

Personally I just hope it doesnt turn DoD into the hideous camp fest that CS often is. Im not saying it will mind you, I just hope it doesnt, and then spoil this excellent game. One of the things I like about it is the lack of witless spam. Because you're not dead for long ,theres not much time for spamming. The same is true in the quake games too, except q2 freeze tag, where, guess what , you spend a while "dead" from time to time.
Ho hum , we'll see I suppose :)
Summo, how come Ive never seen you play mate, what servers do you go on ?

Just as a final thought on this conversation, Natrat upped the player limits on the BW servers 2 days ago (thanks again!) and last night at 9.30 all three were 16/16.
Splendid.
On a slightly less optimstic note, no one ever replied to the email you suggested I sent Ch3tan, still maybe he did something without replying.
Whatever , good new I think. :)

Well i know the liason for BW, or did he used to be in a clan i was in, and i ain't seen him in irc for serveral months, also a couple of the admins i know too, and last i heard they were not playing dod anymore......

maybe its time BW found out if these guys did still play dod...and if they do fairry muff, if not maybe replaceing them, need more good dod communities :D

Hmm... I may volunteer to be the BW liason. Been playing for ages now and I suppose I ought to do my bit.

Anyone suggest who the best person to talk to would be? Bigfoot? Natrat? The Top Brass themselves?

I put myself up for an admin for DoD Summo, but was roundly ignored tbh:)
I reckon things move very slow here sometimes ...

I'd play DoD but it crashes to desktop whenever I try to play it :(

I best go check if it does it for other HL mods I guess...
