Wonder if its ironic that you're helping the environment by running the programme, but in the meanwhile destroying it by using up electricity.

Sadly I use a laptop, and can't help otherwise :x

Fek the climate, it's fine as it is/is gonna be.

Sorry to sound smug etc (I did Environmental Geology at Uni)...

Although the history of the Earth shows that this planet has been through a lot, that "lot" includes several mass extinctions, including the largest being the Permo-triassic ME where 95% of all marine species, and 70% of all land species were wiped out.

From the looks of things, we are currently undergroung a mass extinction, with 25% of all land and sea organisms though to be extinct within 3 decades.

Monkeys with petrol gulchers will take this planet down, and a high proportion of life with them. If thats not irresponsible, then I don't know what is.

Best of luck.

The fact tha monkeys with petrol gouchers will take this planet down is true. Even if us humans extinct ourself from this world one way or another, New life still will come. We can't stop the global warming, in fact it has allways existed from the start of the days. scientists say that global warming is the main cause of the heat, well that is true. but it is the humans that has contributed to the thickened layer of carbondioxide and thinning the ozone layer.

We can't prevent teh global warming to increase now at the rate that we humans spread toxic gases. But we can slow down the rate that the earth is heated by making cleaner cars cheaper. and aswell making countries have their factories fumes filtered at an much better rate.

this was just my thoughts.

Actually, the main source of pollution(whopping 75%) is from the housing of the monkeys with petrol gulchers.

I could look it up, but i'm tired and just woken up.

What if everybody with a computer and internet connection joined this experiment, and we ended up getting a virtual intelligence much smarter than the smartest super-computer that exists, and this virtual intelligence decided that it wanted to "take over the world"...

I think I'll pass. :eek7:

Watched the tv program to go with this.

The background is that dependent what model is used by scientists studying the climate, itcan put the global temperature rise over the next 50 years somewhere between 1 degree Celsius and 7 degrees. Obviously thats a bit of a wide window! 1 degree is nothing, whereas 7 degrees is hello Mr Methane from the sea and we all drown (well ok maybe our grandkids or theirs!!)

What this does is model one set of figures per machine to come up with a single outcome. Multiplied over several thousand other pcs each running similar but different models, the aim is come come up with a statistical cluster that shows the "most likely rise" in temp. So far I am 31% into the first module with a CPU time of 720 hrs
