reckon that the primeminister is rich? Millionair? (cant remember his name, he's fat and he come to a building site we was working on, one time!)

Will tony blair be rich aswell, being the ex PM etc. I can imagine that George Bush has enough money to keep a roof over his families head, but exactly how much? Thousands, millions? I don't know. Interesting to know mind you!

Actually its probably not a highly paid job, no where near 400k, mostly Tony Blairs wife brought the money in.

They probably avoid tax aswell, free living / food etc.

How did she bring the money in? Sold her sally celuite arse?

Thats his name, Gordon Brown.

I mean do you think they get paid weekly or monthly or what, god knows. Is he rich, does he have more money than Christina Aguilera or one of these wealthy people.

Nah they don't get nearly as much as their careers are shorter. The main benefits would be free expenses and to be tax free. No matter which way you look at it however, £400,000 a year isn't a small amount.

It's nothing like 400k a year though, last I heard tony blair got £180,000 a year. Still not exactly a pittance :p

When Tony Blair first became prime minister, he was on £70k a year. So given inflation, £180k seems about right.

But what you have to remember is, the prime minister wont have to spend a penny of their wage.

Most of the Prime Ministers money will come in from people paying him after he quits. I read that Tony Blair only had a normal 2 bedroom house before he was by no means rich. I do not know if he gets a free house now like ex presidents to make life easier for the security side of things.

Tony Blair is a millionaire - they get paid loads of money for being PM. Think about it. £x00,000 over 10 years. All the stuff he needs while he's working is paid for - no travel, no food, a virtually limitless expenses account. Its not like being a PM you've got loads of free time to spend your wages either. Also Tony Blair recently bought a place in Chester Square (London) for about £4m

I don't think Gordon Brown is filthy rich, not yet, but he's probably got a mill or two max.

You don't hear of any ex prime ministers applying for bankruptcy LOL

Been a while since I checked but it's probably somewhere around the 160k mark (not including allowances etc). Now that may appear to be a lot but it's less than TB would have made as a barrister & it's less that the average CEO of a large corporation would make.

MP's are on about 70k I think & they can suplement this by sitting on company boards, after dinner speeches etc. Ministers don't get to do this which is why cabinet & shadow cabinet people get increased pay.

The unlimited expense account doesn't really quailfy as when you leave the post you're 'supposed' to leave behind things that you have purchased during your tenure unless you used your personal cash. He'd still need to repurchase anything he wanted & have to leave behind.

Funny thing is that Blair actually took a whopping paycut to become an MP & then PM compared to what he made before.

Yeah Blair's wife is a very successful barrister. Barristers - if they're good - earn fortunes. They were pretty comfortable even before he was PM

George Bush gets paid in dollars tho.

He's probably got less money than the average English student by next week! :worthy:

George Bush is a billionaire m8

Indeed. Any want to dig up the oil company names which he's got massive shares in? Or the ties to which big families he's involved with? Tony Blair is a bum in comparison to the amount of cash Bush has...

Aye, can thank tax payers and the co-incidence of the european human rights bill being brought in.

Tax payers give her lots of money via legal aid, on cases she accepts on human rights issues. But hey, who would have thought.

And I think Blair currently earning about 100k a month from doing a few days of speeches..

Better of if the pair of them get shot, as well as all ministers/mp's etc. They all twats. I mean, what other group of people can decide their own pay rise between them and most likely give theirself a much bigger rise then what they allowed any government department to give? Ah democracy at its best.

Need a new political party that at least semi listens to what the democratic countries people want.

why is he getting about £250k more than blair, when blair was actually voted in?

A YouGov poll for the Fabian society suggests that on average people think the Prime Minister should be paid a salary of £135,000. This is lower than Gordon Brown achieved receives (the PM’s salary is about £187,000) but was higher than the salaries people thought fair for every other group YouGov asked about.

clue?

Read recently that Blair would make at least 10 million USD from a lecture tour in the US. A big US agent was saying he is the biggest political leader since Gorbachov to become available for the lecture tour market and it was going to be huge.

Im not sure about the PM. However MP's get an INCREDIBLE amount of expenses (travel, food etc) which aren't really checked up on.

They also get around 20 grand to employ a 'secretary' which in most cases they choose to employ their wife.. who just pockets the 20 grand and does fuck all.
