128k WOULD BE AMAZING to have i am willing to pay anything up to or around £30/month.

Is this man sane? £30pm, just for access, that's without rental, which on highway costs £40pm as I remember.

What a complete gerbil.

I got isdn and im very happy with have been for ages.ADSL is from most of what i hear hopeless for gaming, and cable modems are not available in my area as yet. Also they only seem to be about 30 ping better than my isdn...

What a stupid fucking question.

Those with 128K ISDN are hardly likely to say no, and those of us on broadband are unlikely to be arsed either way.

Pointless...

i suppose it becomes a viable option if broadband isn't available in your area... or something...

the point being sar is that no isp's support 128k atm unless demand can be proven, and for people in areas without broadband who need more bandwidth have no other choice apart from move, either that or stay in 56/64k hell

The ADSL users in my two clans have reported a great improvement in the quality of the conn in recent weeks.

That said my cable modem has been utterly fantastic more or less since the day I got it 20 months ago :)

My ISP used to, just never used it, had two pc's on 64k most of the time so never really got to use 128. That was on a BT Surftime package with PlusNet. They said they didn't support it, but it always worked, odd.

I'm moving from ISDN to ADSL next Monday :)

tbh, 128k ISDN isn't a lot different from 64k when it comes to gaming, most online games are designed with minimal packet sizes to accomodate regular 56k modems, and the _speed_ of a 64k ISDN line is exactly the same as a dual-bonded 128k ISDN line (its the bandwidth that has doubled).

I'm quite happy with 64k ISDN for gaming, but you cannot get an unmetered service at a reasonable price without a cut-off these days, and all the "unmetered" ISPs have unwritten rules about abuse of the service that change on a daily basis, last weeks moderate user can soon become tomorrow's hacker taking up everyone's bandwidth.

ADSL gets we better dowload speeds, instant connection, flat rate and no cut-off = heaven.

Hmm... our research seems to have uncovered contrasting opinions.

I suggest we settle this in the car park. Five minutes...

...and mine!

The upgrades BTO have performed on some of their gateways have made online-gaming a pleasant experience again. Mind you, not all HGs have been upgraded, and there are a few moans still. You live in Crawley, as I do, are you on HG16?
