That's pretty much the reaction of most non-smokers I've came across in my area, it's quite pathetic if anything. Most will complain about the 'not being able to breathe in this area' even when people aren't smoking (had people say this to me while im just stood there rolling one up).

maybe they are talking about the shitty smell of smoke on you, not the actual smoke? you know, like saying 'its impossible to breathe' while someone farts

me, myself, im a non-smoker and prolly wont ever start, simply because i hate the smell of it, and when someones smoking is annoying me in a way that i can not avoid i will ask them if we can compromise somehow. and even if we cant, well, im not gonna die from a few extra minutes of cigarette smoke (Fuck me i would be owned if i dropped dead next time someone smokes now). i truly believe some non-smokers are throwing the whole deal out of proportion. after all, there are worse things (like people that are too drunk to be themselves).

dont get what your waiting for :S, you just typed some random things that support no argument in the vein hope that the fact you mentioned cigs in it would give it some creditbility

Smoking "may" trigger cancer, but it certainly doesn't cause it..

well, my nan certainly didn't have both her lungs collapse from lung cancer by not smoking.

If i had a car, i'd probably mostly let people i like in it, and if i like people it's usually nice to have them around, and not worth risking over the issue of smoke if you don't have to? It's kind indeed but makes sense imo considering there are people that just don't like smoke.

Besides, surely if it's better not to smoke, really he was in a way being kind to himself also?

I was talking about how non smokers force their "don't smoke" on smokers, yet smokers don't go forcing them to smoke.

Which, would lead to the usual "but that doesn't harm the smokers", though not always as it seems.

Ah ok, sorry didnt read it that way , my bad. Wasn't a attack on you personally but alot of people in this thread are typing alot but saying nothing

A better analogy would have been in a train station waiting room, filled it with smoke from cigaretes when its pissing down with rain outside.
You dont have to go inside, but at a cost of breathing in the smog inside to get away from the rain
