You know that thick black sludge served in a thimble that tastes bitter & every sip fills your mouth with thousands of horrid grains. That stuff

Not ever had it, I probably would though. I like bitter things.

Love Turkish apple tea though.

There's a coffee made in an African region - god knows where - it was on one of them round the world I go TV shows - the villagers chew the beans up in the mouths until they're all soft & gooey with their saliva then spit the mess into a bowl, warm it over a fire until its hot, then they all drink it. MMMMMMMMMM tasty

I don't mind the odd cup of coffee. I seem to be particularly addicted to McDonalds coffee for some unknown reason (maybe its because I've been a tea drinker all my life).

My point is that Turkish coffee is so rank that the nearest approximation would be to pour sand into a cup of hot engine oil, and stick a spoon in it.

That looks even more digusting than american coffee.

Espresso > all

Coffee and sweetened condensed milk (instead sugar+milk):

The bigger question, though, is it Turkish or is it Greek?

I generally start the day in my office with Turkish. Only problem is that you have to go to the doctor to have kidney dialysis after a shot of this stuff. Wakes you up for sure!!!!

Anyone who's had espresso and this turkish gunk who can tell me if they are the same?

I lived outside of Rome for a year and lived off doppio esspressos. Great stuff!

No, from what I understand the Turkish stuff is like Arab coffee, very strong, very thick. Like a super espresso.

Haha google image shows that picture from a greek website :)

I'm greek cypriot and have drank greek coffee many times. That stuff looks too thick though. They way we have it, you put the coffee and water into a pan and heat up. Then pour into a small cup like an expresso. It's very bitter, also it has a charred/burnt taste about it so people usually have a spoon or two of sugar.

I do not think they are the same. I normally get an Americano from Costa which iirc is x2 expresso and some hot water. There is that charred/burnt taste, but it's bitterness makes you think "hang on a sec, is there lemon in this?"
