Do people know how to rotate their cameras?

I've been in emain so many times and see groups of 8+ middies run alongside 20+ albs just off the road or something, and none of them notice. Its fucking pathetic. I shout "Mids E" or something and no-one turns around.

Saw good old dunderklumpen in the trees just our side of the milegate, gave a shout telling everyone where he was, no-one stops, no-one notices (his green armour aint all that hot), and then see him running towards our pk, just off to the side of a cleric, then turns around to attack the cleric in the back. Whats the point in having stealth if people dont look for you in the first place :(

well, I do.... rotating the camera is not possible unless you have mouselook on I think?

I wouldnt be able to live without the feature... I only really started using it when my scout starting RvRing.... quite handy being able to look to all 4 sides

You can rotate the camera with the keyboard, but having the mousewheel is a godsend for zooming out and stuff.

Yep it's the ` button just above <TAB>
Also vital in rvr when resting as you can look around 360 degrees with it. Not that it'll stop an assasin from hitting you course :)

its good when running away so you can always see if the person has gone.

I think that generally people who dont use mouselook looks around less than us who do. Would be interesting to see numbers on how many that uses mouse/keys.

And I think people look around every now and then but maybe not at the right times? :)

The ` button also works with s & x (Camera up/down) and cursor up & down forward and back,
D returns to default.

Just incase you didnt know

The Perfect view in my opinion is camera full back and full up, with a touch of down tilt.

The method I use is the ` button (above tab) and Control (which is my mouselook button when held down). When holding both of them, I can use the mouse to rotate my camera to any angle.

Im pressing § (Just above tab... swedish keyboard layout) and holding down mousewheel (you know, it is a button too :D ) wheehee.... moveing around without problem, and if you get paniced [End] button returns it to standard position.

A thing ive been wondering about is how many out there play in 1st person view? I know its very common in EQ, but do ppl use it in DAoC?

I'm also always in 3rd person mode with the camera zoomed out max. Also I'd say I spend 90+% in mouselook mode, unless I have to click-target something or have to do some inventory arranging. It would change with the class you play though I reckon. Classes that do a lot of inventory swapping like minstrels might spend more time out of mouselook.

I move with ASDW with QE for turning (when not using mouse) and can quickly toggle between mouselook and "cursor mode" because I have bound mouselook to Z so it is close by.

I have played a lot of FPS games though so I'm naturally inclined to favour mouselook and can find pretty much every key close by blindfolded :)

On another note, does anyone ever click on the quickbar? I always press the numbers myself.

That's exactly how I do it, hit aoutorun and hold those buttons and pan around and you're more safe against ambushes from behind. Just hit the panic stealth-and-put-pet-on-stay buttons and go hide ;)

I use the numbers, but is there a way to change quickbars from the keyboard? <is dumb in that regard>

I do however, use a rotating view about 95% of the time I'm moving.

Yeah, I click every so often. I dont like lifting my hand from either the ASDW keys or from the mouse, atleast not when enemy players could be nearby. And i dont like looking away from the screen, which I have to do atleast for pressing 5 and above. I guess im abit paranoid about pressing the wrong key, and about missing something that happened on the screen so thats why I tend to click alot. Oh, and I got hours and hours of practice hitting tiny little buttons from playing WinMine, can anyone out there beat my 80 seconds on expert mode? :D
Sometimes when just healing a group when exping, lazyness gets to me and I just sit back in the chair and watch the battle and use one hand to press shift-F? to select target and 7 or 8 for healing tho. :p
Otherwise i hate moving my hands more than necessary. Hmmm, maybe I should start using Q and E for moving tho. So I can turn around using only left hand. That might help actually. Thanx for the idea :p

I might add that I use vim for all textediting. Using vim, you never have to move your fingers from the middle row on the keyboard at all so im lazy that way, plus moving your hands around alot is terribly un-ergonomical(sp?) :D

How come YOU know this? Oh wait...you have multiple quickbars dedicated to emotes while you attach yourself to someone.

A/Z = Forward/Backward
X/C = Strafe

Look around and turn with mouse, if i have to select something i just hold control or press nearest enemy (R)

And i just hold ~ and turn around with my mouse :)

Who doesn't use mouselook... I mean.... wtf... man it must suck not to use it. I did this in the very early days and now that I think about it mouselook is 10000000000% better. Plus you just put on auto-run (unless you are stuck, then np) and hold the § key down to look around.
Doing this will save your ass numerous time in RvR zones.

Oh yeah and I have forward/backward on my mouse buttons and then starfe on q/w.

coming from the fps world, i highly changed my config :)

mouselook on 100% of the time

wasd to move about,
q to rotate ACwise
e to rotate Cwise
t = combat mode
f = nearest enemy
z = nearest friendly
mouse thumb button = run toggle
y = nearest object
g =pickup nearest
`=rotate cam
shift = use
cntl = sit
v = jump

best setup bar none, i am left handed and never need to move my right hand off wasd to do anything =) i never stick with the default, they are always crap imo cause they were designed for the evil humans of this world, RIGHT HANDERS

YEAH??? Whats wrong with that?

Cursors to move and rotate
Q & W to strafe
Num Lock to cycle run mode
Numbers for quickbars
Shift+numbers to change quickbars
Mouse constantly clicking on everything or F8.

Main problem with mouselook is you can't click everything so easily...

If you hold ctrl you get the cursor up and when you release you are back in the mouse look mode. It rocks, don't use anything else except mouse look, boohoo, woohoo yeah sure... mm... I see.

Actually I hardly use the mouse when playing, just to circle around different alb at distance. Only problem I have is when guarding climb spots as target nearest is kinda buggy.

Left hand got styles, select nearest enemy and so on, right hand on movement keys works wonder.

But to the zooming around object, I was in DF alb zerg I follow the alb zerg who went the wrong way(get a map ;) ). I get destealthed by mob and aggroed, see the alb force returning realising their mistake, I get into the corner fight the mob, Not a single alb questioned the fighting being something else then another alb, and what worries me more, not a single alb stopped to help.

I used to run around alot with my camera backwards after Giona ganked me MANY times ... but looking behind ya in fear of Giona and running into a group of albs isn't fun so I stopped doing that :)
