I agree, I could also get a faster card etc...
I just think that this spec will do what I need it to for now. Tbh £400 just to play a few games is silly n'est pas? A line has to be drawn in the sand somewhere. This spec is not needed for the more mundane PC occupations like websurfing or email or porn.

At the moment i run a 2800xp with 9600xt and 1GB ram, runs far cry verry well, havent tried doom 3 tho

So i guess a A64 with about the same hardware should be ok

I am just a ram freak, but then i use the machine for more then porn and games.
(its also my test platform for some dev work and sytem testing)

wel my rig runs farcry at 1152*864 and most detail on high just fine so an A64 2800 should run even better.
my only fear would be some games beeing a bit ram starved, but you can always add another 512 afterwards if so

GF4 makes quite a difference I think. I get a lock up and then a bluescreen, nice
