Started playing DAoC again 2 days ago, and been seeing wierd things on my client.

For 1, you know when the further away you get from a person, certain parts start to blur, not visible for the naked eye ofcourse, but I've been having it a bit extreme, upclose on my char (with camera) I see nice and smooth graphics, but zooming out even like 2/3cm makes the face/graphics/cloaks/shields, you name it, blurry already.

It's quite a horrid sight. All I did was update my Nvidia drivers to the latest version and ofc DAoC downloaded 1.69.

So I'm wondering, should I revert drivers back to <53.03 and see if it vanishes, or does anyone know if DAoC generates any sort of .cfg/ini file for Graphical settings? I've changed it in the options menu, Viewing distance (tried all settings too) and it was set on high, as always.

Any suggestions?

Computer specs are;

AMD XP 2000+ @ 1.67ghz
768mb DDR 333 Ram
Geforce 4 TI 4400 @ Forceware 61.77
Running Windows 2k with latest updates/service packs

Never had this before btw, only after updating DAoC and the drivers.

Would be gutted if it was the drivers :\

I think it has something to do with pre-caching models into yer RAM, just check the option screen before ya logon to a server

TOA client.

Pre-caching is set to ALL, got 768mb RAM so.

Anyway reverting drivers not cleared the issue, feels like it's a 1.69 thing.

Kinda gutted as I cba playing with these ugly as hell graphics :p

Any possibility it could be win 2k-related? Tried installing win xp to test?

I run newest Detonators... erm, Forceware on same GFX, 512 MB Ram pc without any problem (well, my sis does, but she'd be yelling on me if it wasn't working fine), so.... I agree, try installing XP and look if it bothers further...

I hate XP, with a passion.

I've just reverted to 57.11 Forceware (or I think something 57.xx along those lines) and the problem seems to be gone.

Now what baffles me is that I've had the same problem with Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (I hate d3d), but I had to renew my drivers, and find the old problem in DAoC, revert drivers and it's dandy, but now SC:pT is bogged up again.

I hate NVIDIA sometimes :)

Anyway fixed I guess.

You've made me curious enough to Install Windows 2k on my sis pc (ye, she wasn't much happy :p). I've installed newest Detonators and both DAoC and SC...

Both worked fine without trouble. So, the trouble is hidden elsewhere I am afraid.

/edit: ah new post... puzzling much more than before... Is your hardware 100% ok?

Thats anisotropic(or something) filtering, look it up on your settings and set it to a lvl you like it.

Yep, hardware is fine.

It's definately the drivers, the Splinter Cell boards are full of posts like mine, that being related to my Geforce 4 TI 4400 and the older (or latests in my case with DAoC) bogging up the game graphically.

And showing the older drivers just work fine (with DAoC), it can't really be hardware related.

I've also tested it with all possible combinations of Anistropic Filtering and FSAA, and none of those really changed anything, well, except for my FPS, never run DAoC on my machine with 4xS FSAA and 8x Anistropic Filtering, bad, bad.

Wierdest part is, though, that reverting to let's say, 43.03 or something along those lines in the Detonater line gave the same problem but a tad worse. That being FPS wise with NO FSAA or AF at all.

But it's fixed, I'm happy, I won't ever update my drivers again till i get my new ATI card.
