Before you say blah blah blah get a professional to look at it etc. unfortunately it's not possible due to certain constraints so I thought I'd get a second opinion that I can then pass onto someone who may be able to fix it ^^.

Basically when the diswasher is turned on, it cuts the electric for the whole house. Electric doesn't come back on till the dishwasher is turned off.

This has only started occuring two days ago although we've had the dishwasher a long time.

Please give some suggestions as I hate doing the washing up! :x

Ahem.

Bla bla bla.

Get someone to look at it, unless ofcourse one day you wanna turn on the washer and burn your home down.

What constraints? Magical elves stopping electricians at the door? :eek7:

Don't put your penis in the plug socket, we all know how that would turn out.

The constraints are none of your business. And amazingly enough, I don't intend to turn the washer on till it fixed. And if it cuts the electric, it's going to be awfully hard to burn the house down! :)

I had a similar gimmick in one of my old apartments. The entire electric for the living room required a certain sockelt in the kitchen to have a plug in it. No plug, no electricity. Also, whenever I dared to turn on the oven while the washing machine was running, the fuse went kaboom, cutting off the entire apartment.

Try the following: get an extension cable and plug the dishwasher into another socket (from another circuit). If the effect is the same, there´s obviously something wrong with the dishwasher. If not, there´s something wrong with the wiring.

Also, check whether the fuses are correct and still intact (i.e. no brainsparkling genius decided to bypass them.

im not an expert but it sounds like its drawing too much current through that particular fuse in the fuse box. tryed changing the fuses?

you mean its nicked? :p

coppers handling stolen goods shocker!

I was thinking similar things.

"Oh i can't call an electrician 'cause of...ahem..."constraints"...yes..that's it." :D

Or there's some other naughty thing he's done.

If it's drawing too much current from the fuse then why has it started now?

We haven't got any new objects in the kitchen or in the house. Infact, my brothers been on holiday the past 2 weeks so everything has been used less.

Is it knocking out the trip or the electric to everything but the washer?

If it’s knocking out the trip, it's stopping your house from burning down by the wires over heating for too much electricity

It sounds like you have a short circuit, which would explain it cutting the power every time you switch it on. The only thing is it could be anywhere within the unit, so unless you have some handy tools around to test for shorts, you'll need an electrician as every connection will need to be checked from within.

unless u really DO want to burn down your house (or wash everything by hand) you really do need to get some licensed electrician to look at it, or get another dishwasher. i strongly oppose anyone that doesent know exactly what he's doing to tamper with any of that stuff himself..

you really only have 3 options here if switching the fuses don't work.

1. get someone to check the dishwasher (that have a license for it)

2. get a new dishwasher

3. get someone licensed to check the wiring in the kitchen.

IF there is a short circuit in the kitchen wiring ANYTHING can start a fire if it go badly. just because the fault might only go to one plug doesent mean it might not happen anyway.

i know from first hand experience. you do NOT want to mess around with that stuff yourself if you dont know what you are doing.. IF something happens and they find out its your fault, you can kiss any insurance money good bye. is THAT worth it?

so get rid of that "constraint" that wont allow you to call someone over and CALL someone over to check it for you!

Funny how big Bugz has f*cked up, evidently 'cause he can't even tell what the problem is on an anonymous forum :worthy:

Maybe should start a poll to see what the problem is.

I was actually thinking he had some funky wiring of his own all around the house(real "inventor" like), some "plantlife" that "miracilously" appeared there or some other weird stuff(donkey porn?) around that he's afraid of.

Or he just f*cked up the dishwasher on his own, did something equally dumba** and doesn't want mommy or daddy to find something out.

I reckon he is just scared of a big, busty, blonde electrician coming round to "check his wiring" ;)

It happens, was once in a porno!
