I'm currently working on adding video functionality to my DirectX framework project and have been doing a bit of an investigation into the fastest, most efficient way of implementing it in a variety of different situations... e.g. on textures both moving and stationary, full-screen, behind overlays, backgrounds etc etc.
I'm just wondering what is deemed the current best API for doing such a thing. I've been a bit cautious about jumping straight into this as I know quite a few companies seem to short-cut and use existing, outsourced libraries such as Bink. Surely this can't be all that difficult to implement?
So the main question anyway... has anyone got any experience with doing this and could point me towards a decent tutorial, let me know which is currently the most favourable multi-platform option or give any key points to consider while doing this?
Also worth a note is that I currently can't find any more recent DirectShow SDK release then 2001 which is further pushing me away from that option...
