Is this OK to install yet?

I am on Win 98 SE.

Wanna install it, but don't want to to fuck up any of me current settings an stuff.

Still on DX7 meself, on 98SE, but I think I mite try DX8a soon, heard a lot less ppl moaning about system fuck ups with that one rather than DX8 standard...

I have Dx8 because 1 of my games requires it (Giants) it works fine on win98se

Hmm, good question. Last time I installed DX8 my system died 2 days later but I think that was unrelated. Rebuilt it with 7 and not tried since.

DX8 is a must on any W2K system.

i held back a bit at first, but just installed it for giants (it rocks! - Giants that is)

No problems here, although with 6.5 nvidia drivers giants gos all funny (like it did for me on dx7)

I had heard of probs, but none here so far.

BTW - im on 98!

(little hint - make sure all types of drivers are updated BEFOREHAND to stop any possible fuckups )

I`m on DX8, Detonator v6.50, and w98SE. No probs whatsoever. So there!!!

I'm on Win ME and the bloody thing crashes all the time. In fact, it crashed within 15 minutes of me putting Win ME on and NOTHING ELSE.
I run DX 8 and the nVIDIA 10.50 drivers and it only crashes some of the time. I used to have the Detonator 3 ones but it screwed up Shogun.

Should be funny when MS release the X-Box with DX as its standard. They can't get the fucker to work properly as it is, let alone base another system on it.

I was already using the v6.50 when I found this, so I`ll stick with`em for the time being.

I use DX8 with win98 SE. No problemo, but I can't see any difference between it and DX7. Other than that it can run things like Giants, O'course.
