Its Breakfast, Lunch then Supper

It's this, except when Supper is poncy and smart and stuff with a few courses and then it's Dinner.

Supper is pizza or shepherd's pie or the like.

Dinner is:
Asparagus, Goats Cheese and Caramelised Onion Tart with Sundried Tomato Dressing
followed by Pan-fried Duck Breast on a Bed of Marinated Oranges, with Ginger and Soya Sauce
and Tart au Citron with Raspberry Coulis Topped with Chocolate Lattice for pudding.

Sample menu only :)

Not at all, its because there is more southern fairies on here than northerners.

Trems right, (good piano music as well btw), although it is grim up north, life rolls along at a far less speedy pace than in the south, most people are nice and we all have flat caps and whippets......

on a side note, i seem to have 4 reputaion marks saying i am just really nice, so that proves that northerners are 1337 :m00:

It's breakfast > dinner > tea

I don't know who Gareth Rees is but he works for the fountain of truth that is the bbc.

BBC World Service | Learning English | Ask about English

So there.

And Will

Backing up your theory with the views of another southern ponce doesn't make it right.

Evening meal = Tea

End of discussion.

The only reason to have tea instead of dinner is because you can't afford a proper sized meal. Just shows how much poverty there is north on london.

I always thought people from London had posh food i.e. tiny portions arranged artfully on your plate.

Which according Rubic and Will means you all eat tea down south.

Glad we could all agree on that then:cheers:

do you have school "lunch" NO you have school dinner

it wasn't called "jamies school lunches" was it

i rest my case

Actually, from my cook training days(before i joined the navy and grew a ponytail), if you're talking about food in general, it's a dinner, but the time is still lunch.

It's just called lunch, because of the time, in other words, lunchtime.

In finland, tea is usually something ejoyed A: in the morning. B: Before bed. C: With some cookies or some such and basically as a "coffee replacer".

No teatime up here.

This Poll doesnt make sense because the answer is based on where you are from so both answers are technically correct.

What this poll is actually doing is showing the % of nothern and southern users on FH.

What do people from the north do when they want to take someone out on a date for a meal then ?

Excuse me sexy lady, but could I take you out for tea this evening, around 8pm ??

Or are you not more likely to invite someone out for dinner ?

I'm from the midlands, but live down south now, and use tea or dinner interchangeably depending on the time, location and circumstances.
