How many ABBA can you see, check below:

-----------
----A-A----
--A---B-A--
--A-B-B-A--
--A-B---A--
----A-A----
-----------

Hope this makes sense :)

Will say the answer when you guys give up :)

Ok i'll try and explain

How many ABBA can you see, which means you can any direction but can only go through 1 character at a time. I'll give a few examples, see below:

-----------
----A------
------B----
------B----
--------A--
-----------
-----------

In the above you can see two ABBA, 1 going down and 1 going up.

-----------
------A----
------B----
----B------
--A--------
-----------
-----------

-----------
-----------
------B-A--
------B-A--
-----------
-----------
-----------

Hope the above examples make sense.

Wouldnt it be around 39 or 40 ish? Not sure I'm understanding this right but you're asking how many combinations of ABBA there are in that grid?

i can only see A's and B's with -... no ABBA :p so 0

ok it's simple, connect the first a to as many abba's u can..
then go the the 2nd a, but you CANNOT count a abba u allready counter befor.

ie:

1a 2b 3b 4a is 1

but

4a 3b 2b 1a isnt 2

i think its 21 (or 42 if u DO count backwards aswel)

If its more than 40ish I'd say it'll be alot more - was thinking of standard multiplication but this must be orders of magnitude higher.

Depending on how you calculate it, I would say 256, 400 or 1600 :) ofcourse this assumes you can re-use 3 letters that have already been used in one combination of ABBA, with only one of the letters being new.

I just looked at it. My method was to draw it a few time on a piece of paper and see how many times I could form abba one letter at a time. The numbers above/next to the A's are the ammount of different ways you can get there from the bold one.

Code:
[font=verdana]
       1 1
    / A A /
2 A / B [b]A[/b]
3 A B B A 2
3 A B / A 1
   / A A /
       1 1[/font]
or 15. The mirror image will have the same ammount, so you only have to this for 5 of the 10. At least, that's how I think it works. It's faster than figuring out a mathematical formula at least :).

Edit: I'm probably all wrong though :).

Answer to the above is:

106

1st A at top: You can see 6 ABBA
2nd A at top: You can see 6 ABBA
3rd A Right Side Top: You can see 15 ABBA
4th A Right Side Middle: You can see 15 ABBA
5th A Right Side Bottom: You can see 11 ABBA

which equals: 53 so times that by two and you get 106
