Did someone whack Scouts with an Uber nerf bat?

Not a whine about nerfing or anything like that - just have a question:

I've been away from Albion for a while and just recently decided to come and play my scout Shalimar in the BG for a while. I seem to remember she was great fun to play, using a 10% bonus heavy recurve bow (orange con) she could drop casters in a single shot.

Imagine my dismay when I arrive and my first SIX critical shots all miss. After 10 arrows I finally hit someone, unforunately that would be the last person I would hit until around 6 arrows later when I finally hit someone again. In total I fired over 20 arrows and only landed about 5 on target.

So, has anything happened (i been away for about 2 months I would guess)

Nah these are clear misses, not blocked or failed to penetrate etc. Its really wierd - Im using the top range arrows and a crafted enchanted bow (10% bonus I think)

They upped the fumble/miss rate a lot back in who-knows-what-patch.

Neither Cush - like I said, 2-3 months ago I had no problems (even though they were nerfed a while before that) but yesterday was just nuts. Maybe I had a string of bad luck.

Im not sure about what BT blocks say but I also managed to miss the onager 3/4 times in a row

I've grouped with a lot of scouts last few months, they seem to have become incredibly popular in the Order, and it seems all scouts have this problem, Gab. It makes no sense that Dargo, 4* scout, who i think is fully specced in Longbow, can Fumble, fumble, miss, miss, fumble, miss against a Hoary Worm in pennines. You can't tell me that worms have PBT now...

Seems that although scouts are renowned for their bow use, they cant actually use it for toffee... I also stand by the fact that infils/SBs/NSs should lose See Hidden and scouts/Ranger/Hunter should obtain it - assassin calsses rely on poisons and stealth, archers and hunters rely on their eyes and keen senses... now tell me who would logically be able to see stealthed folk?

I don't even have a scout, why do i care? :lol

Its pretty naff. Think I'll shelve her for a while and see what happens over the next few months instead.

Your views on assassins and scouts with see hidden seem well grounded aswell - have'nt read about these changes yet but your ideas seem valid.

Archers one shotting casters is one of the lamest things casters have to endure. There is no caster in the game that can one shot an even con enemy ... why should archers be able to do it to them?

Archers can't either at lev50.....stop living in the past.
Mythic's nerfs put paid to this a long time ago.

Since when do the Lev24 BG's have anything to do with normal RvR.
This was also 2-3 months ago when Shalimar said he could do it........ like i said before ,stop making out that archers can do it now.

Archers were over-powered at the beginning and did need toning down a bit , but it went too far.

Also ,if it was meant in the past tense then why speak in the present tense ?

You're reading too much into my post, or not reading it the right way ... as I've already said I was simply pointing out to the thread starter why scouts had to have a nerf.

They're still a -very- popular class though so there must be something about them that keeps drawing people back.

As for being a 'troll' ... I wasn't the one adopting the argumentative tone in this thread

I wasnt complaining about not being able to one-shot people, was just asking if anyone else was having problems hitting anything at all I missed an onager 4 times in a row from point blank range

ooo <grins> maybe this fabled one shotting happens if :

1) no BT up
2) cater is rezz sick
3) You get a capped damage hit with critical as well
4) No uber melee resists from casters

Aside from that, no single shotting of even con casters - sorry mate - you are over 12 months too late with that whinge.

Now ... add that to the TL _documented_ 20% fumble/miss rate, BT, evade, block etc. and you find that archers get about 1 in 5 of their arrows to land (go read the TL reports if you wish). If any melee or even DD class (excluding bolts that also need loving) had this kind of failure to hit, you would be crying like crazy.

Go play an archer Turamber, then tell me about how uber the class is in RvR. And no BG stories please - real RvR. BG's are _not_ any basis to discuss class issues over.

With _luck_ I can hit even con light tanks in RvR for 300 ; maybe 400 with crit shot (they have to be standing still btw). Mages I _might_ hit for 400-500 max. Tell me, what do you hit a mage for with a styled blow?

<grin> Common RvR encounter for even mage 1-1 battle goes like this :

1) stealth, see lone (insert name) class

2) Figure if class light tank or mage. If it is, try. If heavy tank - don't bother obviously.

3) Line up crit shot if non-BT class, else normal shot. If stealth breaks, target often spots you so crit shot turns into normal shot as he/she starts to run towards/way from you. Often, insta-cast xx interrupts/mezzes

3) If lucky, arrow lands (1 in 5) or at least pierces BT.

4) Release 2nd/3rd shot. Target usually not even 1/2 health

5) Target either out of range, standing on your feet or you are dead from pet/mezz/Neartsight+dd/Green-haze round head from one of 50 stealthers close.

6) If still alive and target is a light tank, target usually at you by now and then you try to land slam .. and again and again as it is evaded.

7) If still alive, land Slam, run through and /face. Try to get off 2 arrows. First misses (WTF?), second might land. Often can't get 2 off as first interrupted by weapon stll swinging despite target slammed (thanks mythic).

8) 80% of time, still die as scout melee usually sucks big time.

9) release and sit at lathe
