I'm sure of what it means now, though it could have descended from medieval people sending out criminal monkeys armed with china mugs for all I know. Which, I suppose, would be fairly distracting. But yes, mugging = threat or actual violence accompanying theft.

Where i live (Brighton) during the summer our population almost doubles with the amount of foreign students who flock down here to learn english. And every single one of them has their rucksacks (With english school name emblazed on it) on their fronts.

If i was mugging i would know who to single out.

and you can probably notice them anyway with those names on the rugsacks and probably because they look foreign. If your bag doesnt contain anything of value then dont do it, but if you are in a crowded metro its good to atleast be able to see what happening to your rugsack.
You might get noticed more, but with your rugsack infront of you its harder to steal from it than when it is on your back.

I'm torn between thinking "was the show worth £100 though" and feeling genuine sympathy. That said, I'm struggling to work out how you would not feel the watch being pulled over your hand (assuming, like most watches, it would necessitate you clasping your hand to do so).

Not feeling the watch on your arm isn't unusual given your body would just become accustomed to the added weight being there - otherwise we'd all be distracted by our watches, etc all day long.

I guess it really depends how lost in the moment you were. To be fair if I were faced with the same show, I'd probably lose all but the basic mental and physical faculties.

I don't think you'll have much luck with club cctv, certainly the cctv in our unions clubs wouldn't be able to provide evidence of things like that unless you were on the front of a dance stage or right on the edge of the crowd
