Did I just get mugged?

Right now, I'm properly pissed. off... went out tonight - was a mates 19th Birthday... everything was going excellent - we were all drunk / slightly intoxicated, when these 2 lesbians girls starting going off on each other, right in front of us (I mean, proper snogs, grabbing tops with teeth and pulling, letting everyone have a proper look).

They stayed with us for about 15 mins, dancing close to most of us (was 8 of us, danced close with 5 of us, including me).

Then they left.... and about 2 minutes later, I realised my watch was gone...
If it was a cheapie watch, I couldn't care less, but it was a present from my grandad - a Titanium solar powered watch - about 100 quid in the shops (tho I haven't seen them on sale in England).

I almost have to break my nails to get the watch off (it has a wierd metal clasp lock thingie), so there's about 1% chance that it came off on its own. I've had that watch for about 3 years now, and it's only ever come off by itself once by itself.

Now, I'm not sure if it was a freak incident, and it came off on its own, or whether these girls nicked it - is it actually possible to steal a watch off someone, while they're wearing it?

I personally find it very cirumspect that the minute they left, my watch was gone.

The nightclub we were at told me to call back in the morning, but I'm pretty sure it wont be there. If it is, all good and joy, but if it isn't, does anyone have any idea of how I might get it back?

I was thinking about calling the local pawn shops and have them keep an eye out, but beyond that, I have no idea...

And does anyone know whether it's worth contacting the police about the matter?

/pissed off

Any help would be appreciated

I very much doubt you'll see that watch again. Calling the pawn shops is probably pointless (I doubt they'd give a flying fuck once you described it and it's rarity) and unless it's uniquely identifiable to you or you have proof of ownership then calling the cops might also be fruitless, I fear.

Sounds like you did.. Just old fashioned miss direction. The good ones can do it to you even if you know they are going to be doing it. We had an Ex-pickpocket doing his stuff at our company christmas party and he basically got most peoples wallets watches and even ties etc without anyone knowing it.

I doubt very much they'd invest so much effort just for one watch. Did anyone else (you said there were 8 of you) have anything disappear?

The nighclub we were at haven't had any watches handed in - I'll give them a call in a few days and see, but I suspect it's gone...

Mofo, not sure if anyone else lost stuff - will ask around later today

Guess I'll resign myself to the fact that it's gone and see if I can get a replacement from somewhere.

Go there, and watch the clip at the top of the page. Really quite impressive.

You weren't mugged, as mugging is theft through force. You were inherently male, and thus susceptible to the distractionary powers of lesbians. Of course, there's always a chance it did just break off, but I suspect if it was a big distraction thing then the thieves would have worked the room and not just one person for their watch. Check out with your mates, and then go and amuse the police with warning tales of frisky lesbians. I'm sure lots of cops will volunteer to go undercover and help out.

So they activated your appendage, deactivated your brains, stole your watch and you come here to complain about it.

That's rich.

Ok, these 'most people' are they grotesquely ugly, socially inept or just brainless? I agree, but it's hardly a revelation is it.

Only time I've seen pick pockets at work was at a Foo Fighters gig about 5 years ago. Only figured out afterwards what they were doing, but there was a pair of them 'working the crowd' by having one of them walk up to a group of people and engage them with jokes and small talk while his partner skulked around behind them and searched their back pockets. After the gig one of our group said he'd lost his wallet and we spent ages looking around on the floor for it.

Funny thing was I turned around and looked at the guy standing behind us wondering what he was doing. It all clicked together after a few days. Oh to be young and naive again.

Bah silverhood...i bet you just went to a strip joint and got a lapdance from these "lesbians" and couldn't pay so you gave the watch. And now you're just covering your assets 'cause the missus might read the boards :p

What pisses me off the most is that I didn't realise it was gone until they were gone... walking around with a chunk of metal around your wrist for years, and then it's gone... I would have thought I'd notice it... guess you live and learn

Damini, that link is quite scary.
Derren Brown isn't a lesbian, and he hasn't got tits either :eek7:

This is commonly know as "getting your hat nailed on" :)
ALthough tbh, if you couldnt get the watch off without using some force as you said earlier, its doubtfull they would be able to. Although, misdirection is a wonderfull/frightening thing. You probably felt the watch go, you just werent paying attention to it. :/

I was in the crust at a gig a while ago and felt someones hand in my front pocket not being entirely subtle (although i'm paranoid about pickpockets in crowds so keep my wits about me) i couldn't turn round because of the crush but I did put my hand over theirs in my pocket and dug my nails into the back of his hand......

moral of this story..

don't be a slathering male who suffers cock led stupidity when faced with two girls together. For a start if they are putting on a show they want something from you they aren't doing it for their own pleasure.....

The combination of tiredness, alcohol, and distraction work quite well, don't they? I've never been robbed in this way, but I can imagine how angry you feel Silverhood.

I suggest you ask the club if they have CCTV, and if they do, tell the police about it. Some might say its not worth it, but if enough people were fleeced, the police will investigate. It sounds quite well organised.

Something similar I spotted while going up escalators on the tube were people standing behind you looking in any bags you have or at your back pocket - looked fairly obvious pickpockets. As usually couldnt find anyone to report it to, but probably wouldnt have been able to find them in the crowd anyway.
I always walk up and down the escalators on the tube now :)

its always a good idea to have your rugsack infront of you in crowds aswell(it may look weird, but it beats missing your camera or something else precious).

Where i live (Brighton) during the summer our population almost doubles with the amount of foreign students who flock down here to learn english. And every single one of them has their rucksacks (With english school name emblazed on it) on their fronts.

If i was mugging i would know who to single out.

Yeah, that was what I was planning on next (it's only 10 mins down the road - will pop down tommorow afternoon).

I'm pretty sure there's CCTV in there - it's the biggest nightclub in Bournemouth.

And form this thread Sicko, you should gather I like bluntess... especially considering I was, errr, to be blunt.... clubbing
