that was a great program, starting with the amazing tune that follows the history of house, 'there was a boy, a boy named jack' from then onwards the program was great. Its great to listen to the great US oldies.

I personally think 50's Rock and Roll is what modern dance music has its roots in, as the repetition of basslines and drums that made Rock and Roll so danceable laid the foundations of the 4 to the floor backbeat that every dance track ever since has used.

Not trying to argue Perp, I see what your on about. If truth be known however, and please correct me if I'm wrong, a guy called Juan Atkins started all this in Detroit by making technological music that he called "Techno", so it would seem that Techno actually started before House music.

This could go on all day mate. The fact of the matter is that house is higher up in the chain of events than any of the modern day genres. Techno (or electro, or whatever) gave birth to house, and so on.

Clueless fuck. 'old skool drum n bass' came from Jungle Techno. Basically, the black factions that were being subjected to the hardcore scene way back when got fed up and started mixing reggae tracks into hardcore, and so was born Jungle Techno. This progressed to Jungle and/or/then DnB

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the programme, but I was wondering: did they mention Throbbing Gristle? If you've heard 'Hot on the Heels of Love', produced in 1979, you'll know that they were way ahead because it sounds incredibly like the house music of now.
