Guys,

Seeing a strange problem with my DFI NF4 Lanparty motherboard.

I have 4 memory slots on this board - 2 orange coloured and 2 yello coloured.

If I plug a memory stick into both the orange slots, system works.
If I plug a memory stick into both of the yellow slots, system works.

If I plug a memory stick into ALL of the memory slots, system doesnt boot. the diagnostic lights indicate that the CPU is detected, but doesnt go onto the next step (DRAM connected)

i have 4 dimms of 1024 MB memory, 2 sticks of 512 MB memory and cant get any combination to work over 2048 MB.

Any suggestions on how to get it to recognise more than 2048 memory?

Does the motherboard state it can handle more? Have you tried a bios upgrade? Does it work with 3GB?

Have you checked that every single 1gb stick allows the system to boot and that they're all of the same type e.g. DDR3.

got a replacement Lanparty mobo and after faffing abiout managed to get the old one working. Decided (belatedly) to upgrade my daughters PC with the spare Lanparty. got a new case and wired everything up. Switched on the power and NADA.

wired it up to another PSU (one from my machine) and .....NADA

there are 2 lights on the mobo that should come on when there is power. one does light up, but the one at the memory slots does not come on.

Am I right in assuming Ive borked the mobo?

These old dfi nf4 lanparty boards were notorious back in the day. I think I went through about 3 before I got a decent one. exactly the same issue, couple of leds and nothing else. Eventually ditched it and never went back.

Try single sticks first, you may get it to spring into life but I think it's borked
