DF First Impressions?

I dont know about you guys but I was sort of disappointed about DF. Its hard to solo in there, because of adds and the aggro is appauling if anyone trains a mob onto you your dead. You have to be at least lvl 50 and have a 2 full groups to get anywhere near the princes, coz of those inquisitors add badly and decide to thrash anyone whos near them, even if you didn't aggro them. Ah well ;\. My impressions are prolly rather spoiled by the fact that there are always a few idiots who pull mobs onto you. At least the cash is good?

Havn't played DF at all much yet but so far it's makes some VERY fun changes according to me:

1. Much fewer copycats that read forums on how to produce a character. Now that you can buy magical weapons and armour there should be more individual characters. The quests from earlier combined with some highlevel playercrafted and this new "buy" ability will make peeps more diffrent and more interesting to face in the realm wars. Easy or Hard-as-hell? :D

2. Because of the fairly easy access to DF some of the above ground realm areas will be more safe even when u aint above level 45.

3. Lots of new monsters to whack and with the addition of all those flying things there will be even more places to look for foes.

4. It got a purpleish colour.

Happy hunting to you all! Go get those seals...

Not sure about that, on my own i walked all the way the the princess room, then walked round the next corner to be met by 8 mids who promptly ejected me from the dungeon <grins>

I really really like it..

1) Its for level 20+
I really did thing it was going to be a zone for 48-50s.

2) The loot system is really fair.
Hunt for 5 hours, split the seals equally, everyone gets an item they like, everyone is happy. Remarkably few arguments. And you get loads of cash.

3) Its big and atmospheric.
The atmosphere on the alb-side was really nice - like a contingent of troops exploring an area, rather than a load of guys who already knew the place inside out going to tank the mobs they had preselected.

I saw loads of faces I never really see anywhere else and it was genuinely very.. I dunno, realmy. Like when we started running into mids.

I'd like to congratulate that mid who skewered me. I was standing in a pile of dead realmmates, looking bewildered because the spiders that had killed them had chased someone else, glad to be alive, then TWAK I'm dead. Norseman keeps running.

4) Its FUN
I'm not someone who gets really upset when I die.. and I died in some pretty neat ways today. One is above, the other was when one of the Inquisitors went on a rampage through the level 20-25 areas, killing just about everybody, and the resulting stampede back to the imps.. heh.

Stuff like DF is why I feel that £6/month is a small price to play for DAOC.

I mostly enjoyed my time in Df tonight . I say mostly cause as always its spoiled by some prat , in this case a couple of em .
Not gonna mention any names on here , but i'm a lvl 33 and 2 purple con pillocks decided to attack my mobs when i was hunting solo in the low lvl area , each time leaving me with no xp and no loot ( thnx guys really enjoy that NOT ! ).
Such a shame that there are always a couple of prats about to spoil peoples fun .

Love It

Within a couple of hours I had enough Diamond seals to purchase a new Polearm

If you know your limits and get a good group there should be no problem

LOVE IT, its good cash, its nice new horrible mobs, its crowded, (277 ppl at tops yesterday from alb was in DF, and that´s /anon exluded), GOOD items that are fairly easy to come by, fair lootsystem, u ALWAYS get loot and u dont have to camp for days for an item u want, its a good place to help lowerlvls in the guild get damn good xp, u can get hit by a horde of hibs! (like we did) and so on....

I LOVE DF, feck trees in lyon and pesky gobs...

Fair lootsystem? Well I guess if your group cares about splitting them even. I do remember some having twice the amount of seals compared to others (people had none when we began)... I think I will do this with close friends or my guild only...
The dungeon is very nice tho, just one proposal... in this dungeon it would be EXTREMELY nice not to grief enemy realm greys! This hasn't happened to me yet but killing greys in this dungeon would be just too low for anyone if you ask me... let's not do that. Oh sure you can battle it out with +/- equal level enemies but leave greys alone.

well i am part of <utopia> and used to beeing nice and share ;)
i had 26 diamonds, and some junk, person next after me had 1/3 of that, i had some really nifty luck with the drops :p , of course i share with me, this system allows it and should be used imo.

Perhaps ask before joining a group about how to share can work, i dont know, but then there is the problem with ppl having been there for longer time than u and so on, and since ppl in general is quite sloppy with keeping track of what they get and stack stuff, there will be arguing and such over time i reckon... but its part of the game :D

perhaps stacking seals u have b4 joining a grp might help with the counting just remember u cant unstack them :D

does anyone know if the 16.1 thrusting pole u can buy in DF is glowing:confused:

Hopefully the huge zerg will be educed in time, too many people there :p

The drops off the Epic style mobs are rather queer; one mob drops more items than you'll likely to receive from a whole LB run? Dumb.

It will not be the standard grey-ganking because its not very easy to get the to opposing realm's sides if you're solo, at least that's what I've heard. And when trying to run around some solo I got aggroed by purples quite quick, so I guess it makes sense :)

I think it's great, unlike RvR which is restricted to level 40+ this place is for level 20+ so anyone can have fun in there and maybe run into a few mids or hibbies while theyre doing it.

Great place. Well designed. Extremely enjoyable.

Personally I think the epic mobs should drop more stuff than Llyn Barfog epics as the place is harder to get to -- so will, probably, be visited less than Llyn B.

Which of the mobs do your refer to though Pathy? We killed the princess and she only dropped a handful of silver. Lots of Cthulic Knights fell to us also - and they only dropped diamond seals.

No wonder you didn't have time for your epic quests ! :p

Pfff :p

A Prince dropped five different items, as i understood it. I didn't actually participate in the DF semi raid, as my cable was fooked most of the day :(

Sword
Shield
Hammer
Dagger
Staff

hmm, crap items from the prince then, only 25% bonus, 35% on crafted weapons is superior then.

may be doing something wrong but.. i had a group of 37-43 (just one 37 everyone else 40-43 i`m level 43 by the way and at no point did i see any mobs that weren`t either ..grey, blue, yellow, deep purple

aboviously this aint great for a team of low 40`s....in the end we started killing single succubuses untill they Baffed and killed us all ho hum

so where are all the high 40 ..low 50 mobs?

the bt-proc doesn't last very long, does it? I've heard it disappears after a time, so you can't smack a gray mob in emain to get it to proc and run around with bt until you get hit.

Nope, but dual wielding two of these will give you a fair chance to proc a BT :) When you have opponents hitting for massive damage, it helps ;)

Hmm, now that I think about it. I didn't see many yellow mobs. (L46).

The end of the lower level zone in Midgard has blue/yellow (barely yellow) and the "boss" mob there is yellow. After that, you hit high orange/red at the next zone. Where are all the yellow mobs that drop sapphires? ;)

To all the gimps that think "Darkness Falls" is about equality, holding hands, sharing and not getting picked on by someone bigger than you!
